Just Starting, Should I buy a walmart Crap Gun?
There has been a lot of pressure from my friends to play Airsoft with them. I am wondering, as I want a clear gun, should I go with the aftermath Kraken, or Lycon or just a Walmart gun? Will the Walmart gun hold up for me? Will it break quickly?
The speeds and accuracy is not a great issue for me, I just want a functional gun that will work for a long time, and is clear. So, should I invest in some of the clear aftermath guns rather than buy from Walmart? Is there any clear guns that are cheaper than the Aftermath's? If you're on that much of a budget Kraken.
BUT and this is a big BUT, if you have a bit more money (like $350+) it's probably a better idea to get AV'ed and after that get a G&G or JG from one of the many fine AV retailers on this site. Otherwise you can take a pander through the Classifieds on the site to find some great used guns (once AV'ed).

I recommend saving up a little bit. You'll regret investing (because that is) in a cheapo AEG. New G&G start at about 260 + taxes + shipping. The Classfieds here on ASC has many good deals (new or used) at reasonable prices.
Not anybody understands it the first time. After getting a good ol' TM as my first AEG, I'm thankful to myself to have made the best choice, 'cause it still rocks hard! The only way you would regret a quality AEG, is if you should quit the sport after a few games.

I believe the lowest cost but still moderately fair functioning AEG out there is the aftermath kraken. I wish I could offer more information however my knowledge is fairly limited on the kraken and cheap airsoft in general.

It uses the AEP mechbox, making it vastly inferior to a standard AEG for anything but CQB IMO

Why doesn't he just ask if he can rent a AEG and go to a game? Wouldn't that save money and gives him a chance if he enjoys it.

For all the hassle of messing with aftermath why not check out canadian retailers online, man they got some mad deals on clear eciever guns. Most are less than the $300 I spent on a cybergun Sig 552 that was worth maybe $250.

i bought a gun it broke, and i ended up having to rent one. look around, see if there's any games in your area. talk to the people hosting. and there's usually 1 or more people willing to rent out a gun. |
