Metal Gearbox in Plastic Receiver?

All I have for now is the Cybergun A17 RIS AEG, and I'm starting to think the plastic isn't going to hold much longer, as the motor is already starting to cause problems. So, while looking for some upgrades I could get, I saw the Jing Gong metal gearbox V2 at Velocity Arms. My questions are:
1. Would this fit and work properly inside a plastic receiver?
2. If so, would I need a new motor, or will the stock one be fine?
3. If it wouldn't work, is there something else I can do for it?

Just so everyone knows, yes I know plastic is crap, and yes I have every intention of getting AV'd when the time comes, and getting something off the classified section.

This is what I was looking at:

Don't bother, the externals of that gun wont hold up long enough for it to be worth spending the time on.

You already know what to do..

I don't even know if that's possible to upgrade...do you have a link to the actual gun?

Do you know if it takes a standard V2 gearbox?

Here's a black one. Like I said it's clearsoft so it wouldn't have any information like that.

I don't think that gun is upgradable.

I don't even think it's 1:1 scale...

I'm pretty sure it is 1/1, but thanks anyways. Not so sure I want to spend the $60 right now anyways.

You can fit a standard V2 gearbox in that gun, but that gun won't hold up to your upgraded gearbox, someone try to do it and he endup with only the ris and the stock from this gun left intact. (If I remember it correctly)

Is that the gun from Walmart?
because if it is, it's not a 1:1 scale replica.... (so not TM compatible....)

Why not save your money and wait until you get AV'ed and get a proper AEG? From the sounds of your first post Im gonna assume your a minor, so you will not find much advice in terms of upgrading guns from us here. Take this time to research the sport and everything about it, and when you turn 18 you will be able to jump right into the deep end instead of starting in the shallow end.

That's just what I plan to do. I'm 16, so I'm not too far away now. Zeta also helped me out, and I'm not going to do this anymore.
And not to mention by buying these clearsoft guns, I've learned a whole bunch more about Airsoft and guns than I could have by reading. But yeah, I'll do it when I can.

I had the same problem back in early september, with the same gun. But, I bought the newer black jg gearbox instead. Here's what I know...

1. Would this fit and work properly inside a plastic receiver? Yes
2. If so, would I need a new motor, or will the stock one be fine? The motor won't work, there's not enough torque. I bought a marui eg1000.

Even though it will work, it makes the mag not sit securely and will fall off. I fixed this by sanding off part of the magazine release.

While taking out the motor, the wirse will have to be cut because it's not long enough for it to be pulled out, and the new one will require you to solder a longer wire length.

Buying a new gun is a better choice.

I was a dumbass and tried to upgrade this gun because I was too cheap and poor. And even though it still performs well, the plastic parts are too weak to withstand any game action. The rails are cheap plastic and they can snap off the screws if you attach too many accessories. (ie, if you attach a hand grip, moving it around will loosen the rails)

I use it to kill random bugs around the house, so it's mostly aesthetics I'm into, hence I drybrushed a metal effect on the spraypainted recievers, and I also made a nifty m203 from some pvc.
