Are either of these scopes okay for airsoft?

Hey guys. Im wondering about some scopes. I'm going to be mounting a 4x scope onto my AK47.

1st Scope: $50. Includes mounting rings, but I believe they are dovetail rings. So, I'd need to buy some weaver rings for $10. 4x32
http://www.businessvision.net/edge/M...SKU=BSAS4X32WR

2nd scope: $30. Needs mounting rings. Range Estimating, Mil-Dot,
4x32

I'm liking the 2nd one more. Its mil-dot, range estimating, provides more info than the first link too.

Oh, I know the website that I linked to is legit. Ive been to their warehouse. I buy all the stuff from their warehouse, not online.

Edit: Oh man, the NC Stars are so much cheaper! But do any of them have Mil-Dot and Range Estimating for around $40?

What do you need Mil-Dots for if you're mounting it on an airsoft gun?

Cuz it looks cool. I at least use them as alternate crosshairs with my rifles. But using them to range out something within airsoft range is just dumb. I mean seriously, unless you sort out your own formulas for within 300ft, there is zero point in mil-dot reticles for airsoft except for the two reasons I mentioned above.

Haha. Exactly. It looks sweet. Plus the range estimating should tell me how far the subject that Im viewing is from my postion.

I want something different then just a crosshair with "+". Haha

You're mounting a scope on an AK? And a Kraken on top of that? Pfff...

If you REALLY want to, there's decent illuminated TASCO scopes with Mil-Dot on Ehobby.
I had this one (blue version) with the sunshade. Wasn't the best, but quite a good value for what we need in airsoft: http://www.ebairsoft.com/tasco-4x32m...cted-p-43.html

Plus it's a 2-6x scope, which is better for the limited engagement ranges in airsoft. I don't think you should buy anything which has over 3x as its minimum magnification.

I'd rather not buy overseas. I'll check that website with NCSTAR stuff, when Im at work so I can see if theres any that are 2-6x or 2-4x or something. Maybe they will have a mildot on there.

Does anyone else thing that 4x would be too much zoom?

If you minimum is 4x then it may be too much. But it can be nice to be able to zoom in further to get a better view of things.

The scopes you linked are not adquate for an assault rifle, look wise.

And probably inadaquat for airsoft use, probably because you will have a hard time fitting them in 20mm rail compatible scope rings. They are ment for BBguns that generally use a different mounting system.

And 32mm for a frontal element is small if you want to shoot in low light.

At those prices, you won't even see what you are shooting at, with cheap lenses.

Get a Bushnell 3-9x40mm hunting scope. You won't regret it.

How would that work out? Know the fomula? And you'd be doing it within 300ft tops like I pointed out, why try to figure out the distance of something farther than that if your gun can't even shoot it (add in, range estimating up close would likely give you gross errors)? Best way to distance things accurately is to use the sight method, meaning you learn to judge how far away by looking at the amount of ground between you and your target. That way you don't need a piece of gear to rely on, you just need your eyes.

4x is fine, but the 32mm objective lens ont give you a very good sight picture for field of view. But since it's for an AK............ might look better. And check out Marstar Canada, they have real steel scopes, great quality, great prices.

Fox, The 2nd one doesnt come with rings at all and has a 1 inch diameter, meaning I could buy 1 inch weaver scope rings for it. But I understand what your saying, I think the one link with the NCSTAR stuff has 3-9x40 scopes. I'll check. How much does the bushnell one usually cost?

I never actually use the illumination on mine while gaming. Maybe because I keep forgetting about it.
