New to HICAPA's
Hey airsofters,
Im new to pistols and im planning to get a TM 5.1 HI CAPA. I know that i need the green propane gas tanks from home depot/crappy tire and i need a gas adaptor. I just have a few questions if you dont mind: 1. Which gas adaptor shall i get from airsoftparts.ca, the one from AI or the one from mad bull? 2. Which brand of magazines would u recommend that has no/least gas leak? 3. Anything else I need? Thanks for your help, I know these questions are ABC to you guys but im very new to the pistol world... I only know M4's |

1. I've only had experience with the older one from AI and it hasn't given me many problems. I've heard plastic ones are better for your fill valve. I've recently read something about one adapter pushing the valve/oring on the propane tank too low and getting stuck on open. Perhaps someone could elaborate.
2. I've only had experience with KJ mags so I can't help you there. Sorry 3. You will also need light wt. silicon oil and a heavier wt. oil for lubing your gun. A few drops of the light wt. oil into the propane tank valve every few fills. Some people say 1 drop per fill. There are also gas adapters that have an oil reservoir. The light wt. oil can also be used to lube the o-rings/seals although they should be properly lubed if you do the few drops per fill. The heavier wt oil is to lube all other moving parts. You'll also need bb's and things to shoot at That's what comes to mind. Hope it helps!

1, Any is fine.
2, stick to TM magazines. 3, Nothing. There are shitloads of upgrades if you plan to upgrade your hicapa. Ask Illusion, he has loads of parts. |

thanks for your reply guys. I've heard of all types of gas from green gas, to HFC134 to propane. Even though propane is most accessible for me since i can get it at home depot, which gas would be the best? Best meaning most reliable, less jamming, best recoil?
Also, when i get the gun out of the box, do i have to upgrade any of the components to make it become more sturdy and reliable? |

Nothing will break if you use duster.. but it will wear out.
Using propane is great but your slide will break sooner or later from use. It is honestly the best gun out of the box. You don't need anything else, if you do, there are metal slides and springs. If you search on here, there's tons of mods to hicapas. It's endless. |

leave it stock, use propane, it'll handle it just fine

For all intents and purposes, propane + silicon oil = green gas
However, from what I rmb, propane tanks are a big plus for 2 main reasons: 1. It's much MUCH cheaper 2. It's safer (the can that green gas comes in is apparently unsafe) Someone else will answers your upgrade questions as I have no experience in that department. Wait for ILLusion to get here |

Oh thanks for the tips and advice. Im planning to get a madbull propane adaptor. So put a few drops of silicon oil in the silicon reservoir of the adaptor, screw the adaptor on the propane tank, and thats it?!
How many drops of silicon do i put in the reservoir? |

Maybe a few drop would do the job or fill it up the reservoir.

A few drops should suffice. However I would suggest the AI one (simpler design, less hassle). It's not hard to unscrew the adapter and put the silicon oil in the tank valve.
The following are some threads I quickly dug up about propane adapters. You might find it interesting: linky 1 linky 2 linky 3 linky 4 linky 5 There are other threads on the forums but those are the ones I dug up. |

I guess everyone is pointing towards the AI gas kit so i might as well get that one then. Do u guys drop the silicon oil directly into the gas tank? Ive never seen it before so its kind hard to imagine.. how many drops do u usually do for how many mags?

A couple drops every 6-8 mag fills, is the standard.
But get TM mags. I rarely oil them and they don't leak. |

I just drop it directly onto the valve on the tank and it works for me. It'll be a lot more obvious if you have a tank in front of you.
