Up close it can hurt pretty good...possibly a bleeder depending where and fps of the bb. At a bit of range it feels like a bee sting for a few seconds then gone. From a decent range you might feel the pressure but nothing bad in my experience.

Aftermath of a 350FPS .2G BB from apprx 30ft. (Still sorry Sticks )

Cover the areas you do not want hit. As you get more experienced, you will become a little more confident and probably start removing items you feel are not necessary. IMHO.

if not in BDU's I usually wear one of my practice hockey jerseys for CQB/paintball.

mind you, in the hot summer, my BDU jacket usually makes it onto the field for one session. by the first break or reload, it comes off and it's just a t-shirt and my rig.

Jaozin92, most of Saturday's shooters, lol, are good guys and can shoot straight, sort of. you'll be plenty fine. we won't shoot at you too much. Do bring and wear a pair of gloves though.

how big are you? if you're still worried, I have some full arm elbow pads. Let me know if you want to use them. I'll try to remember to pack them in the car anyway.

Gotta ask swatt13 about that I saw a pretty nasty pic after a milsim they went to. Especially a few nasty ones from this one thread on a local forum called "Brotherhood of Bleeders".

Overall though they're rare occurrences that the BB will break the skin.

In fact a BB actually has less energy than a paintball, BUT it doesn't have the "destructive energy transfer" factor where since the paintball explodes a lot of the energy is lost when a hit is made. A BB is a rigid object but the safety precautions we take as well as the camaraderie/honour among most airsofters will make sure that they'll aim for body mass whenever possible and tend to not shoot when safety of other players is in question (A big thing for snipers and why they are STRICT on minimum engagement distances (and must carry a pistol with them at ALL times) when they run rifles that shoot higher than 425 FPS or sometimes even 450+ FPS).

Don't forget that a BB has impacts a much lower area.
Airsoft is like a knife, and paintball is like a sledgehammer.

geeze, it happens every 2 weeks to 1 of our group, we use guns under 360 fps.

In the end though, you get over it. Really its not bad- scary yes but not bad at all.
I'm proud enough to have had 4 bleeders myself and 1 forehead bruise from running towards a guy with a pistol ahha.

Go play and you'll see really no need for more explanation- all these people do it, can't be that bad right.

I'm involved with a lot of CQB.

CQB hurts. It doesn't really matter if your'e shooting 280 or 350/400... every once in a while, you get a shot which really fucking hurts.

Nothing you shouldn't be able to walk off in 5 to 10 minutes. Fingers are the worst. Back of the head sucks. Lower / bridge of nose (your whole face will go numb for a little while, and you might be disoriented, sit down). Small of back and love handles suck. Belly button sucks. (you may laugh, but I've seen guys wearing a full plate vest complain of a belly button shot, it happens...)

As one noob to another...At my first game I took multiple hits to the face mask (JT Reaper - wide field of view, good with glasses) and head (boonie hat). The hands and fingers took a few hits (thin leather gloves - try batter's gloves from CTC). Baggy pants and a surplus BDU shirt took the rest of the hits. I got the hell shot out of me and all I came away with were 3 or 4 red marks (no welts) for 7 hours of play.
And it's ok to say OW! as long as you say HIT! right after. You're going to have SOME fun tomorrow.
Oh, yeah...Has anyone mentioned boots yet? You'll hear it over and over again for a reason. Good boots not only look cool but will save your ankles (SWAT classic 9" light).
