There was a similar incident I think around 2 years back (sometime in 07/08?). There's a lot of stuff on it, I think it happened in Alberta some of the guys in Calgary or Edmonton might know some stuff about it.

The TL;DR version is, you're screwed and you can expect at minimum a criminal record and a long probation, worse case a year or two in jail depending on how harsh the crown wants to prosecute and previous history (ie. straight a student or bad ass kid who cuts class all the time and is well known to police).

Medical opinions and legal opinions.

If you are the 18 year in question (as i think we all suspect) get a brain and hire a lawyer, or figure out who your provided council is and get talking to them.

honestly, anytime you hit any one with anything its assult, and your sons friend or you or your son are all going to feel the effects of any assult charge that relates to using a non deadly weapon on a person which could result in somethin fairly serious. Although consitering that I have been in similar instances before I had matured a little, this is canada and unless you permenantly fuck someone up, the most you will get is community service and probation. something you must remember though is that you (or your son or his friend) are the reason that airsoft is not so accepted by all authorities.
If it is you and not some kid who dosent know better with some see through k mark gun that some homeless guy got for him... fuck you this is the reason I cant get a cheap gun from the rest of the world where people are more responsible...
