If I ship a gun in a gun case, I wrap the gun case in cardboard. If anyone ships one to me, I insist it be done with this way. Canada Post is rife with contractors who have thieving losers working for them.
I've lost more than a few items, ranging from gift cards to cheques to inner barrels (what they would do with a PTW inner barrel is beyond me). Ship regular parcel with signature and insured for the full value.

If you don'T feel safe insure the package for more than the value you are selling it for. Always track your items. Sell localy if you can't trust them at all... I shipped over 20 items with them, never had any problem. Bought a couple of times, they friggin' lost my brand new CA p90 for over a month...then I received it like nothing happened.. you never know.
