I took out the internals, except for the magazine catch.

That thread has a pretty good description of disassembly.

As for the pin, it will need to be tapped out.
One side of the pin has little ridges to grip the inside of the hole. I can't remember which side, but if it doesn't budge after a few taps, try from the opposite side.

okay, thanks, will give a try.
it's pretty much trial and error right? since that's really no standard shape for the safety.

Trial and error for the dimensions.
I discovered that I'd filed off a little bit too much from the front.
I've since added a little bit of plastic so that when the safety releases, it doesn't spring too far forward.

It was left over plastic from a previous airsoft project/modification.

Very cool, good job.

I see, any idea where I can buy abs plastic?
I'm new to airsoft, so I don't really know anything

Here in Quebec, must be the same in all provinces, you can find sheets of plastics in any big hardware store. It's expensive but it's available. Or go to a Train and R/C shop, they sell smaller sheets of ABS plastic for vehicle modifications or model terrain creation.

Personally,I would advise against using it.
It's difficult to work with and could chip or crack easily.
Just my two cents......

okay, so i've cut out a few paper templates and found the right design, but how would the safety stay disengaged? wouldn't the spring keep it in engaged?

It only disengages during a pull of the trigger.
