I shat brick.
Emptied a full chem extinguisher and the damn thing kept burning though the wooden floor. Had to leave the apartment a few minutes before the firemen arrived because there was too much black lithium oxide smoke... probably got some lung damage from that too. |

1) It isn't historically or technologically accurate, as the RS equivalent of MAG/JG waffle mags were designed for the giant-ass "let's hunt siberian mammoths in our free time, comrades" 7.62x39mm cartridge. When the USSR switched to 5.45x39mm in 1974, they un-banana'd the mags because the cartridge case wasn't as tapered. 2) Because they're banana'd and they're slightly wider than the AK-74 mags, they won't fit in my vest pouches. AK-74 on the other hand, fit snugly and perfectly. I found some CYMA metal AK74 mags, flat black. I might get 6 of those. |

I've punctured a couple old ones and the worst that ever happened was a small flame :/ Some all that happened was they puffed up and smoked a little. On the topic of mags MAG makes 5.54 mags in "bakelight" and plum. They also make the "bakelight" in the 45 round RPK-74 variant. Not to mention metal 5.54 mags wouldnt be Russian...Bulgarian maybe? I can't remember who used the metal 5.54 mags offhand. Last edited by Off_kilter; January 3rd, 2013 at 22:34.. |

If it turns out you need more. Buy more mags.
Its more your play style and the amount other people shoot that determines how much you'll need |

You'll simply be calling it some kind of SLR107U around those who care, and enjoying consistent feeding. The waffles fit fine in any AK pouch, and I've even managed to cram them into single condor kangaroo pouches and have them fit an release perfectly after a week or so in the pouch to get the material to relax. If you're very specifically looking to build a 74U, I've also used the "bakelite" and plum magazines from MAG, and they fed well too. They also fit a bit more snugly in the magwell. If you want to go for metal AK mags, you really can't afford to cheap out. Keep in mind that metal mag catches will put your latch and receiver under much more strain over time, especially if they aren't a good, snug fit to each other. For metal mags I'd highly suggest matching mag brand to gun brand for the least amount of play. |

Larger pack usually burn less violently (they are bigger, more material to soak the heat, and more surface for a hole to be present and release the pressure... they usually will simply smoke). |

I wiggled them around the mag pouches for about 2-3 min, twirling and spinning them around and now they pop in/out with ease. Last edited by MooseHead92; January 6th, 2013 at 01:08.. |

Damn it. I just installed the 6.03x500 inner and it sticks out by an inch out of the PBS-4. Looks like it's back to TorontoAirsoft to get a 6.03x455. Does anyone need a 6.08x270mm brass inner (stock DBoys) and/or a brand new SHS 32:1 gearset?
Also, a few questions. What FPS/ROF combination would you recommend for outdoors or woodlands play? What motor-gearset-spring-powerplant arrangement do you use, and non-LiPo users with AK's out there? Last edited by MooseHead92; January 6th, 2013 at 16:49.. Reason: Wrong barrel lengths. Added more Questions. |
