I dont know about a gun for under 150... but lately there have been aegs in the classifieds in the low 200-300$, which I can guarantee are gonna be way better than the full plastic lancer tactical. Don't rush your first gun for the sake of saving money.

Its winter now anyway, so get av'd

Definitely get verified besides allowing you to find guns for cheaper than they are commercially sold (though the vast majority are used guns but in good condition) and giving you access to guns that may not be in stock at the store, it also let's you get involved with alot of airsfot related activities that are organized through Airsoft Canada.

As for getting good AEG for around $150, I seriously doubt it. However in my noobish opinion you can get a decent AEG for for under $300 such as a CYMA or Echo1 or even a G&G. However as you get more into airsoft you will likely to want to upgrade or replace those guns but for starters they are excellent in my opinion.

Agreed. All the new guns ive ever bought wer JG's and Echo1's only issue i ever had was crackin a three year old gearbox in the cold and had done many dry fires befor i learned the ill effects of doing so

Thats if you know how to swap it yourself. note that a spring change isn't that simple. since you are going with the M4 series and those cheap ones too, you are probably looking at a v2 gearbox and it needs to be opened up completely to change the spring. also if you are inexperienced with opening it up your spring guide might come flying out the moment u open it up and other parts and whatnot will become loose. hence u need to make sure your gears are shimmed, set properly or you going to have more problems than you can handle in the future.

2 years ago I would have said yes...

nowadays the classifieds are useless...

People are trying to recoup 90% of what they paid.

Its not worth it in this market anymore, the price drops for guns are almost half of what they used to be...

I agreed to that. Buy and Sell here are useless. Especially if already been used.

The resale stuff isnt all useless there are alot of decent packages and pre upgraded/modified guns. But yes there are some who bought guns back a few years when they wer twice the price they ars now and dont want to loose all their money so are out of line on pricing but mostly u will get a gun year old re shimmed tightbore hop rubber extra mags mayby a red dot or a rail system or stock for about the same price as a stock gun with a highcap.
Tho itll mostly be guns that wer 5 or 6 bills new not so much on the jg echo1 cyma dboys type stuff as most folks will just play those cheap guns to death and they become parts guns for projects

^^

I love it when people sell "BNIB" guns that have been opened and had the spring downgraded or something else done to them or even fired/gamed once etc. It is like the classifieds here sometimes have their own reality distortion field.

I'd rather take my chances with store bought new than 10% off used. But that is just me.

Not to mention the 50% possibility of getting an "almost new" gun that doesn't work or has other significant damage the seller took pains to hide.

Sure, we have buyer/seller feedback, resolution, etc. but frankly when you can get a really nice BNIB piece from a retailer for $300-$500 nowadays, why bother? To most people time and effort is worth $$.

The only way I'd say AV is worth it for the classifieds is the AV Retailer Section. There's some good deals and good retailers in there.

Honestly I found pretty good TRADES here. And the good deals they get sold really fast, for some parts and accessories I found the forum a good source.

But yes most of the people who have spent 300-500 in upgrades or customization pretend to have that back, there is sellers who put a detailed list of what they spent showing what the `real`value of the gun is. And most of the time the final price is absurd.

The retailer section is something else, I had the chance to buy in this forum something that here in Canada is almost impossible to get from the people of Illusion... Just get AV and take your time, if you rush you r going to do a mistake. Ask, read, research, and then SPEND

It seems unless you're looking for a 15 year old banged up TM pistol you may be able to find a good deal once every second thursday of the 7th month of a odd numbered year. If oyu really want that 15 year old banged up TM pistol you will save more money buying a new one and banging it up for 15 years.

buyer's market right now, used prices are sort of ridiculous unless you know the history of a particular gun, who worked on it or how it was treated. There are a few pearls, but few and far between.

However, the community is indispensable for peripheral aid with the scene in general and a lot of games are organized through the website. Is it worth it to get AVed? sure... but these days, almost all the vendors have a google searchable and even phonebook searchable brick store, not operating out of someone's garage.
