Detonator Kits are expensive but in my opinion cery worth it. Very nice finish and drop in ready.
that Guarder kit is only expensive because of the little extras it comes with. even then, it might be cheaper to buy them individually. If you're budget driven in your build, the TM G17 is not the way to go. Sure it will open up your selection of parts by a lot but really fancy slide kits for this system is more expensive than the G26 platform. My full size Glocks, personally, cost around $800-900. That not including all the importation fees and duties and what not i had to pay.

Hmm, well I thought I'd start with a TM G17. A basic PGS slide kit is about 100 and then a Guarder frame appears to be about 90-100 as well. I'd start with a few internals as well, but nothing crazy. I'd be into it around 500-600 and be relatively satisfied. I like the idea of getting a couple of different barrels and slides as well. It can be a WIP forever. I'm losing a a bit of interest in the G27 just as I'm finding it is a limited model in many senses. (short barrel and really short grip and very few upgrades available) I got interested in the G17 when I saw someone's video that had the Guarder upgrade kit installed. Looked pretty sweet! |

Looks like I might have a lead on a used TM G17 as well...
The cheapest I've found a new one online in Canada is actually from a local shop by me for 280.00. Last edited by Glenzee; September 7th, 2014 at 19:04.. Reason: Added info |

I used a new TM G17 custom as the base for my builds. It was cheaper than the G17 regular, and I ended up ripping all the internals out into a new frame and slide set.

Yeah I thought I could that too, but I couldn't find a custom priced any better than a standard. I guess the custom's externals might sell on the used market at least.

A G17 Custom is a bit cheaper than a standard G17.
They cost $250 all in in Canada and brand new. Plus it comes with some night sights. Can't go wrong with that. Do what MaybeStopCalling did and just buy the Custom. Look through Canadian sites. I'm looking at one RIGHT NOW! ...AND IT"S IN STOCK!!! Everything is the same as the standard edition with the exception of a longer rear body pin. You'll need to source a regular length pin if you don't want the thumbrest installed. Granted it comes with a tinted frame but then again, you'll be swapping it out for a Guarder one anyways. So that really shouldn't matter. I can tell you right now, the biggest cost you'll run into are your slide kits. The really fancy ones are around $250-300 overseas. I wouldn't tackle internally upgrading the thing unless something breaks. Stock is always better than aftermarket parts... Hurry up and get av'd. I've got Guarder G17 frames in black and 2013 European versions for sale. I can even sell you a pre-upgraded gun if you really want. But not until you're av'd...

What do you think of the basic black slide kit from PGC? I think I kind of want it stock looking. I may consider the ported slide version. I appreciate your advice! |

I just installed a PGC silver slide kit on a TM G18C. Great slide, great fit! You'll want to install an enhanced recoil/hammer spring as well, however.

Cool, thanks for that! I think I'm going with a standard black PGC slide kit. I was debating over the ported version...

Ports get really tiresome to clean. I went PGC standard with a HK3 Generation 4 frame. Drop in fit, no complaints.

I'm very tempted to go the route of picking up the G17 Custom since a bog standard G17 seems to be hard to source and the Custom *is* a bit cheaper (though the cansoft lower is going to be quick to go).
However, I've not been able to find a source for that shorter rear frame pin. Any ideas? |
