G36 mags = big, bulky, get caught on everything, expensive
Armalite mags = fit twice as many in the same space, smooth sides so they don't get snagged or caught on anything, FAR cheaper and a lot more common, allows you to swap mags with teammates using the ever popular armalite series

I switched to armalite mags because when you have the option G36 mags don't have any advantage other than the cool factor of fake round. Tactically and financially armalite mags make much more sense assuming you don't mind the loss of aesthetics. I've died more than once because when trying to pull out a G36 mag it got caught on something (pouch flap, tall grass, twigs, webbing, etc.) and while struggling trying to get it free to get it in my gun I was hit.

Hm, the G36 with VN mags actually looks quite nice.

My final thoughts on these arn't good.

I have TM, CA, MAG and other mags and none of them are feeding well. I am having to hold the mag back in the magwell to help it feed. Unimpressed unless there is an easy fix or better gen coming out.

Surely the ability to clip them together without needing a clamp is worth something? I mean, even if you have one for other guns, you can only clamp two together whereas you can clip together three or even more for some reason...if you're stationary, it's a good idea, as the mags can act as a sort of mono-pod to stabilize the gun, and to switch mags, just press the lever, lift, move over one, drop. Very fast when actually put into practise.

I totally get where you're coming from though. I've experienced all of the issues you brought up, but all are fixable and can be worked around.

I have to agree with LUNIT on that one, whatever the clipability is worth is far outweighed by the inconvenience. Piecemeal you can only fit one in a standard double mag pouch (unless you're using specific G36 mag pouches), and clamped together you'd need a huge pouch just to fit two.

As for the practicality, whatever speed gained for reloading one mag just isn't worth it for me. I personally find the AR's free dropping release to be quicker and more efficient than having to rock mags in and out, and coupled with magpuls (homemade or commercial) and a dump pouch, it's just as quick, except it's that quick for every mag you've got.

On the G36, clamped mags also interfere with the ability to fold the stock (not a major issue, but annoying when you try doing it and it bumps against your mag).

I've had to shim the inside of the magwell with tape to get a good fit and feed with my KA and MAG mags. No problems after that, though.

Mostly side-to-side, but also quite a bit of front-to-back.

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but I am really looking into getting one for my G36c and was wondering if anyone has tried the newer version that was said to have had the mag seating issue resolved?

I shimmed my original version with some sheet plastic to suck up the slack and it's working just fine.

These things worth getting?

How much easier is it to do a mag change than with standard G36 Mags..

I used my G36c last night.. and I can say I'm extremely unimpressed... I really really dislike G36 mags..

There is still one left actually, just re-checked my inventory.

Get it while it's there, I won't be restocking until maybe February.
