SRC M4 isnt a bad rifle. I had a teammates in my hand and the only problem we found was the hopup and all I did was take it apart add some silicon oil and put it back together and toss a shim under the adjustment screw to make it a bit stiffer and it worked 100%. Still works to this day and they are 380fps out of the box.. well at least his was.. I keep hearing they are 360-380fps. Overall for a starter gun and you can pick up the rest later isnt a bad deal for under $300.

Right now if u do happen to get deep into airsoft you'll figure out later on once you become more familiar with Gear boxes, that this decision of choosing which brand of stock guns is not really important at all.
You'll end up tweaking everything you buy so none of this matters But if you just want a Good quality gun, G&G is your best bet

In case you haven't noticed yet, we can't make up your mind for you. You have the information - make a command decision. It's ultimately your gun, and you're the one who is going to have to live with it. If you don't want to spend assloads, get the SRC. If you're prefer having something higher quality that will probably last longer and be less maintainence, go with the G&G.
Go to a game, ask questions and see what you like. It might help you make a decision, or it might even open you up to new ideas/brands you hadn't considered before. You have nothing to lose but inexperience. |

If you couldn't make up your mind on either gun...don't get emotional... sometimes I don't know which gun I want to get either due to limited budget... specify more on what you want...people here are giving you really decent suggestions... if you can give them more details on what you want...I'm sure that they'll give you even more advices...

By the way, I haven't offerred you my suggestions.
I would get a G&G if I have the budget. At the end, it will pay off when you play a game. If you care about the cosmetics of the gun very much, then G&G will offer you a better look on the gun. The internals of G&G guns are fine, but you might need to do some work on it later on. I have a G&G GR16 R4 carbine, and I appreciate its performance. If you are just looking for a gun to learn the knowledge, you can get an SRC. It is a very decent starter gun, with metal body (most starter guns do not have metal bodies, sadly), with decent initial velocity, and no need to upgrade for a while until you are well into more higher-end guns. I hope that these would help. Please specify your budget and your preference. At the end, you will find yourself to fit in a category, such as CQB, woodland, sniper, or assault person. Any of these category would require you to either change or upgrade your weapon to fit your combat style in the future.

If you can be arsed to get your age verified, and are on a low budget, there are a slew of JG and such guns in the classifieds, otherwise consider the CA Armalite range, which is in the upper 500$ to lower 700$ range in country.

JG is almost all plastic... I need a metal body. Plastic is just not the same feel for weight and when your holding the body you can force the plastic to bend no sweat. Its just not the same |

If you went to a game or verifyer's house, you'd find yourself to be somewhat mistaken. Many plastic bodies are very high quality, and are better for gaming in cold.

I own a G&G gr16, and its nice, 350+ fps stock.
The G&G metal body is way better then the (new) CA's, looks and feel. The internals seem descent, ready for spring upgrade- metal spring guide & metal bearings, reinforced gearbox casing (so they claim.) Also, the G&G has a stock 6.04 inner-barrel, but I still don't like its accuracy (probably low quality inner barrel..) overall its real nice looking ,has a very solid feel and is dependable. BTW, G&G make a plastic version, which is cheaper, but VERY solid (hard to tell the difference!), and a funny thing about it is in the plastic version, when u pull the cocking lever, the flap thingy opens, while on the metal version it does not! weird...
