I don't know why, but I've honestly never had a single problem with the CP. Perhaps I've lucked out, and I've shipped tons of things in my time that I've tracked, so it's not a matter of it not working.
I think it stems from the fact that almost everything I've shipped has been priority mail, rather than priority parcel (though the times I've done parcel, they've been tracked, but I did send it from the central mail location in Winnipeg, lol).

You're bound to have problems if you do enough volume. Unfortunately CP is the only really cost effective way to ship in Canada. UPS and Fedex have become unreasonable. Not much in the way of choices now.

I was out landscaping with my shirt off (two days in a row) when my post LADY came up and handed me my mail...quite enthusiastically. I haven't had a delivery notice on my door since then. Packages are always left behind the everpresent cooler in my mud room

It's not that the packages DON'T get tracked reliably with Canada Post. It's that their system doesn't speak to itself very well. With all other carriers, the second that a package changes locations, crosses a sorting plant scanner, is handled manually, etc, the tracking information is updated, day, night, even weekends and holidays.
With Canada Post, your tracking may or may not be updated in several days at times. Usually, it's updated shortly after a package is posted. Then, you're quite lucky to get any sort of update until the package actually arrives at your door. Usually when I ship within Ontario and Quebec, tracking is updated once a day, which is decent. But if I'm shipping between here and the Maritimes or west of Ontario, I'll usually receive the package before the site is updated past the initial transaction. Then the night I take delivery, I'll see the site updated with all the sortation plant and deliver info. Makes the tracking sort of useless in that case in terms of knowing where the package is. I find it funny when I get stuff shipped from Asia with tracking. I get tons of info about my package until it lands in Canada. Then it's hit or miss whether I'll get any other information on it until it arrives at my door.

It seems the problem is simply that some parcels don't get scanned while they are in transit. Maybe the scanning equipement is faulty, or it's laziness from CP workers who don't bother to scan everything.

Fedex is expensive but their service is A++, i use them for any valuable item or if it needs to get to its destination quickly.
Out of 5 packets 4 will never make it to my door, I have to go pick it up... i mean fuck can't they knock at least? :S |

I recently got a fuck-up with them...
Tryied to send a box in Ontario (Im from Quebec). It came back after about a week, saying that this adress is not existent. Shipped it again, Expedite this time after having the adress confirmed with the receiving party and CP website. It is on it's way back again, after I argued for a good 45 min with the guys/gals at CP. They refunded me both shipping cost plus gave me a free shipping for the parcel anywhere in Canada. Ok. I had to force their lazy ass to check if the adress was valid using their own tools, and check that indeed there was some bill comming-in every month. In the end, I only lost a lot of time. Funny that they never send the parcel back the way it was sent... always the slowest/cheapest method. Even if it is their error. |

I've had some bad experiences. I ordered some parts and the cbsa or something must have eaten and regurgitated it because I was able to fit my hand in the hole and pull the parts out.
That and it says I signed and showed some completely different signature even though I never signed anything. |
