Get AVed and wait until you have a summer job and have saved for a few months. You will be MUCH more satisfied with a good rifle in your hands after waiting a few months than with blowing what you have now on a sub-par gun then wanting something better later.

Nope, that would be model aviation =p
Probably should go to a few games first anyways. Besides that, I got all my BDUs off of a military surplus store for around 60, includes shirt, pants, hat, shemangh, or a balaclava. Got chest rig off of Jeff for 10, used ESS landstrikers for 30, and boots from winners for 70 (you can use your old work/winter boots, they're fine) Even then, you can always opt out for camo pants, black jacket, black shoes and goggles, which would end up costing around 50-ish and some stuff from your closet =p

So true.. out of my 3 expensive hobbies (model railroading and RC flying.. real flying doesn't count at this point) airsoft is the one where I'm happy the least with what I have and always want more

Well over $10k in guns, parts, gear, etc in about a year and a half for me... I don't even WANT to count the real total. It would be depressing... And only about 10-ish games played so far... That's like $1000 / game I've played...

whats with the dope refrences? lol i (hopefully) dont think i will spend as much as $10k when i get into this sport and as hard as it may be im sure if money is tight and you will find a way to spend very little and get what you want. p.s i was told that if i get the Aftermath Broxa, $159.99 @ bass pro Vaughn then this little purchase
http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=867 could make it that much better. but imo dont spend any money on the gun or your gear unless you need it, and research the crap out of this stuff (like i have been doing) so you can find what you want for cheap. e.x get chest rig instead of a tactical vest, difference of about $100, and they're suppose to be better. Goodluck. |

Airsoft can be done well for a grand. Thats gun, battery, and gear. You just have to know where to look. (Specifically, the classifieds)
Goggles dont have to be expensive to be safe. A pair of JT PB goggles will do fine for your first few seasons. Buy a common gun which takes a large battery: mp5, m16, AK Order mags and (maybe battery) from UN company or something similar. Use a friend's charger. Look to ebay or a local retailer for some woodland camo. Can definetly get pants, jacket, maybe hat (real stuff) for $100. Buy boots season #2 if money is tight. If you can handle running around in the bush with other footwear than why stretch the budget? If you have ankle issues, though, well buy accordingly. Example: BDUs: $100 Battery and mags: $150 goggles: $50 Rig: $150 to $200 gun:$500

To be honest, I got into airsoft without spending more than 200 dollars.
That included my gun(charger, mag, battery too), bbs, goggles, marpat jacket/pants, and boonie(which I still haven't got from Coma). I understand somepeople URGE others to buy higher brands and such. But then again are you going to play as much? if not why not start out with a broxa or kraken. |

-Good battery (the ones that come with cheap guns are crap) -Good charger (see above) -Good vest. Cheap vests are exactly that -cheap -Good boots. -Good BDU's. -Good BB's. It's all those costs that add up in airsoft.. the gun is only part of the equation.

although true, a non-frequent player may not need BDU's, vest or boots. playing not as frequent means the the crap battery's life span is perfect for us |

I agree on the battery thing, if you don't play that much you don't need the best battery but the BDU is necessary if they want to infrequently play at games that have uniform requirements, e.g tans vs greens, the whole t-shirt and jeans thing kinda kills it, at LEAST wear all black or something...

You get into airsoft, but you buy a brand new 500 dollar high end gun... Turns out you don't like airsoft? You go on the ASC classifieds and sell said gun for 90% of what you paid for it. You buy a Broxa or a Kraken and you don't like the sport.... Good luck finding some one to purchase that. |
