It's all related to the Discharge Rate of the cells as I said before.

ThunderCactus is spot on with the difference between large cells and small cells.

Small cells 2/3A cannot provide the same amount of continuous power to a system like a Large Cell SubC batter pack.

If you take the largest small cell (i.e. 1600 mAh) NiMH and the smallest large cell (1100mAh I think) NiMH there will still be a faster ROF and longevity difference with the large cell pack. Comes down to chemistry and the amount of goo that can react at once in the end.

Here's how you calculate battery power:

Large SubC pack made X brand cells, Y Volts, Z mAh + M[AAA] spring + [BBB] motor = Good to go all day

X can be:
Sanyo, GP, Intellect

Y can be:
8.4, 9.6

Z can be:
2000+

AAA can be:
90, 100, 110, 120

BBB can be:
TM EG1000
TM EG700
Guarder Infinite Torque Up
Systema Magnum (Thundercactus will say No)
G&PM120

*** careful mixing extremes...i.e. a 9.6v 3600mAh Sanyo pack with a M90 spring and a Infinite Torque Up motor might = stripped piston

Wire consistancy would help alot with signal flow. I'm actually a wireman by trade and i went to school for audio/video engineering with and electronics base.. My buddy and i were talking about batteries and such for airsoft and possible making our own or buying some off of ebay and re-doing them just as an experiment. Shouldn't be too hard. I helped wire a big percentage of the new city tv omni building - cat6, audio, fiber and video and some power..... Something that might help too with your batteries and keeping the wires a little bit sturdier and using some heat shrink on them...

ALSO>>>>Using some Hellermann tubing to secure your wiring would help..

The leads coming off the battery make a big difference, I've got 3 7.4v 20C LiPo's and the only difference is their wiring. 20, 16 and 14 gauge, and I get a measurable difference in ROF on all 3
