The cost of your first kit depends on what you are looking for. For 800$, you can start decently with all the equipment needed for most events.

BDU + chest rig 80$ (flecktarn BDU inluding caps and the old verions chest rig)
20$ for AK mag pouches
20$ for goggles
100$ on extra battery and extra mags, BBs
460$ for a decent starter gun (went for a G&G ak-47 canadian version with wood grips - painted the lower krylon black)
Add a pair of east german jackboots and a nice WW2 m36 bulgarian helmet with helmet cover for - 120$ and you are ready to play

If you are looking for the unique kit that will make you stand out of the crowd - expect to pay much more

That's why you collect Airsoft, RS, and knives together.

not ideal choice when you're still in school, Plus I don't want to work 2 fulltime + school to make ends meet. Plus They're much more open now, basically I can get it now, just need my parent's approval..usually its something that interest them as well. (Like the Chinese Type 24 Mauser. Both my parents used it. Mom had to school, dad touch it once. He was issued with M14 back in Conscription.)

I agree, this is good advice. Even though it's a community, there are no face to face pre-screenings for ASC accounts.

Think about the "Real Steel" threads. Think about some poor shmuck that got robbed in Toronto a couple months ago.

I try not to even brag to the wrong person about having replicas knowing there is a slight chance of something leaking to the wrong people.

My whole flecktarn loadout was like $400
$120 KSK pants
$140 for pouches
$60 for basic webbing and my BDU's
$80 for everything else, canteen, radio, shitty boots, etc
and then $650 for my G36K

My ACU Loadout
$1600 on my G&P 249 fully upgraded
$900 on my M4
$600 on my OTV+pouches

My multicam loadout however.....holy crap
atleast $1400 on all my load bearing gear and BDU's
I though 600 was bad for my OTV, it gets worse when you have room for a molle belt and start using droplegs....pouches are expensive lol
spent another $1400 on my M4
put another 160$ in my 249, firefly rubber, triggermaster and lipo lol

First time I started playing back in 2000 I started with a borrowed AEG and a pair of combat boots and some crappy Guchiflage, It worked for a while but I really did not care as long as I had fun.

This time around its adding up fast and I havent even gotten started.

Long story short, you pay as much as you want. But make sure that any money you invest goes towards useful things.

Gun, Boots, Googles are all required. Everything else is up to you.

I totally could not agree more. The mini hibachi I store in my pack comes in handy all the time. I think this season Im gonna try and BBQ burgers in the bush for distraction effect. Nothing like the smell of cooking meat to distract your enemies as they walk into a ambush.....oh no wait bacon would work better...yeah bacon.

Two words
Plausible deniability
Never keep track of how much you spend

Though I always tell new guys to budget 1000 just to get started properly.

Irresistible bacon will also work as bear bait. The bears will help you fight.

I am not familiar with airsoft.

What my question is, does the element of surprise work on a typical airsoft match?
