To decompress the spring all you need to do is shoot the gun 2 or 3 times in semi mode.

When firing in automatic mode the spring may be in a half compressed stage (ready to shoot another BB, just needs the spring to be let go) when you're done for the day. By decompressing your spring you will extend the life of the spring and should not see a decrease in FPS (sometimes if a spring is left compressed for storage it will lose FPS, you should have learnt why in Gr 11 physics).

A tip, apparently a lot of people leave RC cars after a little while (when they realize it's not for them and have dropped hundreds or thousands into RC cars) so sourcing a used charger from a RC forum or other such place might be the cheapest. Otherwise local RC shops should have what you need. The chargers that we use are the same. As far as the batteries go that's kind of where it ends since the voltages and configurations are different as Coach has already said above (you'll need to fit your battery pack in a PEQ or have it rear wired to a full stock instead of how they do it in RC cars).

EDIT: Batteries can easily be found from cheapbatterypacks.com

I don't think you really need a solderig iron. For example, if you buy a custom battery pack from cheapbatterypacks you can usually specify deans connectors instead of tamiya connectors.

The only thing is if you need to do your charger but I believe you can just get a tamiya to deans adaptor and just attach that to your charger and should be good to go.

If you really need it I'm sure you can borrow one from someone you know. An electronics expert or electrician maybe?

EDIT: Also you're probably never going to see the inside of your gun if you don't want to. For upgrades just contact a local gundoc and get them to do the work for you or attend a gundoc workshop and leave with the confidence to be able to do basic airsoft maintenance/upgrades.

no....
hobby store carry regular t-type and deans, not sure about a converter, you may have to make one; I've never seen a hobby store carry a mini t type though.

get a deans pigtail, solder a t type onto one end.

EDIT actually you don't need to solder a t type connector, but it's still much easier if you do.

depending on the gun and upgrades, as well as the ROF you wish for, an 8.4v 2400-3300mah large battery will easily survive a full day of shooting. if the gun you get uses a mini type battery, you may want to consider getting a second one. my M4 came with a large 8.4v 3300mah but I can game it all day while leaning on the trigger a little with a 9.6v 1400mah mini.

again, this can really all depend on the gun you get. wait and see what you get because if you shop the classifieds, you might find a package with a pair of batteries and charger. (or just peruse the parts and accessories section when you know what you need to look for)

I know people have a lot of things to say about these... but:

For around $500 I got a brand new KWA M4 CQB, and I've used it for a number of months in sand and rain... and it's a beast. 7.2v lipo and it's snappy, zippy, and shooting a consistent 349fps, so it's great outdoors and spicy indoors.

Total, I spent about $1000 on the gun, 10 mags, Classic Army RIS, batterybox, and two batteries (add +$150) for a charger.

Here's the teaser:

you're in cambridge. head on over to FR during a game (skirmish) day and see if you can talk to some people and see some guns and gear. get in touch with the game host before hand just so that they know who you are ahead of time.

lots of people will talk airsoft for hours if you're willing to listen to old stories and funny things that happened to other guys on the field.

you can learn so much more in an hour of face to face time with an airsofter than you could figure out on the internet in a month.
