You can check with Mark at A&A. He had M4 and CQB lengths at one time.

Mcguyver, how do these things shoot? How do they compare to an upgraded M4 as far as accuracy?

F%^k, I think I'm going to make a dubious financial decision again.

Imagine 500 FPS+ at 15 rounds/sec. They do have 6.04 tightbore available, and the hop-up is unlike any other gun. My M16A3 shoots fine, no bitches about accuracy and it's only about 350 fps.

They are not like any upgraded M4. Imagine the precision of a Ferrari. Then imagine a Camaro with 100k sunk into it. Which you have rather spent the 100k on? If you sunk 2k into a Marui to try to get it to this level, you'd fail and still have to keep maintaining the thing.

If you want a Ferrari, it's best to just buy it. Too bad nobody in JOC has one...........yet!!!

Once you see and feel it, you're sold.

I used to think that I'd never go for one, but now that I've been reading more on them it sounds exactly what I'm after.

A few guys are ordering them here in town, don't know if they've got it organized or yet...I'll probably have to seriously look at one now. Heh.

Hey McG, what do you think the chances of routing the batteries to the front grip would be on a PTW? As you know, I recently bought a CASV and M93b. My flight of fancy at the moment would be to use them both on a PTW.

EDIT: I figure I would use the PTW buttstock on my MRP (would be a perfect match actually, LMT products) is it capable of holding a 10.8 batt like standard cranes?

It might be possible to use another stock on a PTW. There is a lock mechanism for the cylinder as well as the circuit board containing the switch FETS which sit in the buffer tube. That's why there is no battery cells in the buffer tube itself. It would have to be a stock meant for a real gun.

You would not be able to reroute the wiring to the front of the gun. There is simply no room and modification would be so extensive that I doubt you could pull it off without compromising the gearbox shell, anyone of the 3 circuit boards, the wiring, etc.. You'd have to route the wiring between the mag and cylinder, neither of which can be modified in any way.

The PTW stock may be used on another gun, as long as that gun will take a real steel stock.

And Wey Ferro, the PTW kits require complete assembly, every screw, pin, gear, everything. I thought about ordering a kit to save some money, but for an extra $250, I can get the assembled gun, tested and QC'd at the factory. For me, it's worth that extra little bit. And I ordered a CQB as well as the M4A1.

Thanks for that. Good things to know before I get too carried away in my head.

Admittedly, I'd already sold myself, then talked myself out of a Systema a year ago, you probably recall my posts on the topic then. Without rocking the boat here too much, the flip side of the best possible aeg is the compatibility with the current system in place. Right now the PTW is the BetaMax of aegs - better, but too rare for its own good. The spares, mags and knowledge on it are at a premium and if something should go wrong - which as you pointed out is a mathematical certainty given time - you're not easily or cheaply back on your way.

But really, thats just feel better talk right now, hehe. If I didn't already have a fully realised FMU m4 in my MRP (and the 9 TM compatible mags to go with it) my choice for a compatible second m4 wouldn't be so obvious.

Who likes puzzles? What would you sell or modify to work a PTW into this mix?:

- fully finished 'bestgun' MRP kit with systema drop in mechbox and magnum motor. Right now the batteries are in a G&P crane stock (10.8V). After some trials, has now come into its own. Well oiled machine.

- second build awaiting mechbox (pro-win 8mm). Right now its an empty metal body; real steel Magpul M93b w/guarder real stock adapter to fit it on airsoft metal body, Magpul rubber butt pad added; VLTOR CASV-ELT - real steel, but fits airsoft no problem (holds batteries as well); and a few tan accessories appropriate to the color of all the parts thus far. About 1k sunk in it.

The only real limits on this puzzle are you have to end up with two guns.

What to do?
