if you play on all of the above than you might want to consider multiple pairs. alot of boots are designed for more quasy specific surfaces...soles of desert/tan boots can be alot harder for stability when walking on the beach....magnums, 511's, original swat, oakley can be more catered to the concrete jungle etc etc etc...

so put ALOT of thought into what you're using them for. all boots have respective pro's and cons for your individual usage.

but one thing is to budget what you can manage...note...i didnt say afford....what you can manage. might take a bit longer but good boots will support, protect and a really good pair will help reduce the amount of crying the dogs do at the end of the day.
I don't even budget for footwear. Boots/shoes are the one piece of clothing I condone spending more than $100 on, and will drop a paycheque on if need be.

People who spend hundreds on a pair of jeans though... especially when they've been pre-beat up and acid washed and shit to look like they're 10 years old... fuck that.

But boots, yeah, for sure spend all you can.

Just pointed out something that one might run into at some fields, where boots are definitely required. Not every field is flat woods. Just saying.....

Ankle support is a must one way or another.

I recommend CF Issue or Magnums.
Magnums are expensive, but well worth the cost... And theyre comfy as hell lol
DA, if we were playing on a hard surfaced (Ie PAVED) I would still be calling for boots. Sneakers for what we do are never acceptable. look at Duckman's notes on the footwear in Page 4 of this thread. Magnums are not that expensive btw. Speaking as someone who has to wear duty footwear everyday for work. Again as ducky pointed out, there are different designs for different enviroments.

Not saying sneakers are acceptable for airsoft. Im just pointing out a difference.

Either way, I tell every new player. The most important kit to get after your goggles is boots.

I recomend 12" stilleto's just kidding

Issued boots or Magnums\SWAT boots would be your best bet. Do not use cheap ass jungle boot they will fuck your ankles quicker than shit. My brother Syndrome wore a pair of jungle boots at the LZ 2 years ago stiill wound up breaking his ankle and taking him out for a couple months. Moral of the story

BUY GOOD BOOTS

I remember that day, sucked he had to sit out for the rest of the day, only played a couple hours, then all the recovery time spent after that day. Best way to fuck a day of airsoft and also days at work/home after is to not pay much attention to footwear. Hell, even crappy footwear without having an injury will lead to a couple hours of fun playing airsoft, and the rest of the day leaving you with sore feet and lower back, making you want to sit the rest of the day out because you are aching all over.
