Who knows, perhaps someone in the civil service really is that paranoid. There were heavy workers riots back in the 20s(?) that were crushed with some serious police muscle.

2. It is the enforcement agencies going after an easy target. It is far easier to go after Airsoft and make out to higher powers that you're doing a great job, and to ignore all those nasty drug smugglers who shoot back with real weapons.
you dont need to play airsoft to learn military tactics or practice woodland or close quarters combat just so ya know

Winter, I checked out your picture, from the looks of it, the package you sent is sitting with Canadapost being reviewed before shipping. That was as of yesterday at 15:40. So your friend should be receiving his package within the week. Just breath, he's going to get it. What confused you was where customs verified that you shipped your item from the same country it was registered to have been shipped from.

In my experience, couriers are less problematic - especially for express because they can't afford to spend a lot of time investigating everything. Has anyone had any bad experiences with say FedEx Express?

Lol I think he was referring to the fact that it looks like the package was reviewed by Canadian Customs before it left the origin country for Canada...

I sent it from Slovakia and I thought "Item shipped in origin country" meant that they are going to send it back to Slovakia..
So I was thinking that the Canadian post is processing the package to send it back to origin country (slovakia).

Well, I wish you were right!

Redwolf order April 17, shipped April 21, arrived today.

Clearly selected for secondary inspection as the EMS bag had been opened and re-sealed with customs tape but the contents didn't appear to have been touched.

Hurricane 553 in Tan, no extra charges or duty assesed either.

At best of times, the Canada Post tracking system is about as useless as tits on a nun. It's inaccurate, and many times, you'll find that you see nothing but the initial transaction listed (item posted). Next thing you know, the package is at your door. 3 days later, the tracking site gets updated...

I've also seen stuff happen like this, where it says Customs inspected the package before it was mailed in the country of origin. Not to worry. As soon as you see "released by Customs", it will get to its destination.

Agreed. And no amount of bitching seems to be making progress on fixing the problem.

You get a nice little letter in the mail, usually a few weeks after.

I've had a couple orders from HK - both from Redwolf in the last 6 months. RW has been very consistent, parts shipped out within a couple days, and another 2 days into Vancouver.. and then both times the order has sat in Customs there for literally 2+ WEEKS. The last time, I finally received a call from a Customs agent who asked me to send them a copy of my purchase receipt. I asked her if the delay was regarding the legality of the items, and she actually seemed quite straightforward and honest *GASP!*

She mentioned to me that 'basically all Hong Kong and Taiwan retailers are on a watch list for fraud relating to evading duty on goods imported into Canada' and 'games and electronics suppliers especially'. So my $150 worth of magazines and spring kits weren't in question of whether or not they were for prohibited/replica weapons, but whether or not Redwolf had labeled the actual purchase price on the declaration so they could smack me for the full duty amount - a whopping $18.. I commend that particular agent for her honesty, but I'd love to know how many man-hours of labour CBSA staff put into opening, inspecting, and then camping on my products for 2 weeks before documenting and contacting me to collect that $18.
