LMFAO I'm surprised this is the first time i've seen that pic edited!

Just my 2 cents. I was reading the after action report about OP High Anxiety and this struck me:

Idea: You want to get to be known and respected by a large body of airsofters in your area, go out and volunteer to help out at the next big game. They want the help, you want to be recognized as a mature person, so if you can show that you are devoted and are ready to work and keep airsoft safe and fun, in my mind that would put you in high esteem by the more veteran players.

Now I have about a year and a half to wait until I can participate in a game, I don’t mind, it gives me time to keep my grades rising and I rather hold off until I am 18 then wreak any respect I might have gained until then. I am really tired of reading immature people posting stuff like "Is the AIM Boys M4 any good?” For crying out loud, read and you can find all the info you want and not have to bother the already very active members of this forum.

I would have nothing against limiting posting to 18+ even if it means I can’t post for a while, if it kept out retards. For international people, the Brits have Arnies; the people from the US have a total of 2,120,000 results from goggle to post on, so unless you have some really cool stuff like Sir Toby, bugger off, and go post your questions elsewhere.

Of course I read them. I learned about Airsoft when I was 16. Learned I was too young (My family still hates the idea), and had almost forgot about it. I didn't start playing until I was 20 (Was also a money issue I suppose). I definitely agree with you about retarded kids though. They piss me off as much as anyone else. And if I had my way, I've said it before and will again, It'd be a mandatory 18+ sport. You'd get ID'd at the door/gate like a bar, and at the shop as though you were buying cigarettes. All I was asking in my first post/s was not to flame bobthemonky too much since he did read and obey (at least so far as my knowledge).

Greylocks, and anyone else who cares:

I'm 20, didn't get into airsoft at all until I was 20, so I'm still pretty new. I'm a firm believer in 18+ and do my best to enforce it in my local area. But a problem I'm noticing is that it's not just the kids, it's the retailers who need/want to make a buck. I've bought from 3 different retailers (I won't name them because it's not important, but I will say that 2 of them are on your Canadian Retailers site) and not once did anyone ask for ID. In person no one asked and you could maybe say that I look undoubtedly over 18 (which isn't true) but what's more disconcerting is ordering online from the retailers on this site and not having to provide any sort of age verification.

I'm not entirely sure how this factors in, but I think that it warrants at least some concern. I mean, sure you can come down on the kids, you can do your best to prevent them from using this site and do all you can to keep it legal and safe for everyone. But if retailers are still willing to sell to anyone (even retailers on the Canadian Retailers list, which you all seem to advocate as safe) you've got a larger problem.

Well, it may be very soon that retailers who don't even try to make an effort to determine the age of their purchaser might find themselves politely excused from that list.

I have grown a little tired of hearing about how easy it is for kids to buy airsoft online from retailers. The community here appears to be firmly behind the 18+ rule, if retailers want to be featured here as well, they should try to play ball.

Sure it isn't easy, but we worked out asses off to do it at ASC Armoury, because I think it would just be dishonest towards the canadian airsoft community not to do it.

Well i'd like to say here, that i am 18, I have been playing airsoft for about a year and a half and from what i've read here, this is sort of biased on the fact that, it is kids that are buying the guns and are not being responsible with the guns. I know there are kids who have guns and will be idiots, but the majority of problems are coming from people over 18 who buy these and then do stupid shit with it. Like the guys here in vancouver who used them to do break in's or the older man who pulled one out in a airport. I'm not going to start placing blames here, i know it is a mixed bag, but don't point the finger at just teenagers. Immaturity comes in all ages. A lot of the under 18 players i have played with, are very responsible and are respectable players of our airsoft community. We have quite a few in our area and i'm proud to say they are more responsible and mature then some of our older players who are in their 20's.

Pvt.Snowball, you did not read anything about the reasons for this thread. It's a matter of LEGALITY and LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY. Such only happens after you turn 18.

Maturity? The laws cant affect that.

So if trying to enforce the LAWS is picking on poor underage kids, someone needs a reality-check.

PS, a little sign of maturity would be to have a completed profile with your location, and getting age-verified.

Look out everyone, Greylocks is one of them new fangled "Ageists!"

Seriously though, what the hell is with this attacking maturity from levels of age? When someone is under 18 we give them slack for being immature. Anyone stop to remember anyone is over 18 we beat the living snoze outta him/her for being stupid! If anyone looked at the way the laws of Canada are set up it really gives people under 18 a fair chance to straighten out before they get into the real world. Small petty crimes don't stick with them for life, they get shorter lighter sentences when they do something that isn't "small" and/or "petty."

I say we scratch that out, aboloish Juvi-detention and have em all in the same adult courts. Of course I'm joking here cause that wouldn't really work out all that well, but it might open up the eyes of some like Pvt. Snowball who doesn't seem to grasp its not only "Maturity" its also "Stupidity" levels here. We can't just have everyone and anyone toting guns around, we'd have too many "Imature" kids and too many "Stupid" adults with em!

There's that and the 18+ Rule that was put out by the government on the "toys."

You know I find it funny that its so hard for you to explain why these guns are illegal to people under the age of 18. I mean its to the point that I wonder if they are insulted that alcohol is 18+? (19+ in Ontario) or cigarettes? Maybe they're just frustrated because sex toys are 18+ in Canada?

To purchase them at any store selling them in Saskatcheawan, they are. Including the vibrators and dildo's that London Drugs now carries. (don't beleive me on that one, walk into the closest LD, down at the end of aisle 9)

All of us can only control one thing; what we do personally to stop the problem. Then we can only hope that the folks on these forums are as honest, same for the retailers.

I tend to suspect that some 18+ person gets offered cash to buy a gun for a younger person, or does not care who they sell to. Retailers would have far more to lose from being dishonest if they are found out.

Mind you, even retailers can get fooled.

I'm just so TIRED of seeing kids under 16 come here and expect us to break rules just for them. Kids! This one is for YOU! Where the HELL did you EARN the RIGHT to ask us to break laws for you?
Honestly and sadly for those under 18 who are decent, I still think this website should not even allow anyone under 18 anymore. Period.
The amount of shit it would stop would be enormous.
(Yes, there's no easy way to check ages, but you can always have the satisfaction of banning morons who try. It's not hard, they will eventually goof up and be spotted).

I hope the under-18 crowd is reading this, and YES to the idiot who asked if this applied in the US before deleting his post (Scyxor)! It DOES because I SAID SO! Geeezus.
What is so bad about kids under 18, really some of us can handle a gun belive it or not! Ya there are kids under 18 that cant but some can. I also find that it makes no sence that you can be 16 and drive a car and not play with an airsoft gun! a car is 100000000+ times more dangerous then an airsoft gun.

I am sure that when you were younger then 18 you would want to play airsoft.
