Now I am even more confused and ticked off. I got in a new gun to build on and it is doing the same thing. This time it shoots strong and weak the entire magazine. It may shoot 10 times strong 5 times weak. May shoot first three weak then stron, it has no specific pattern other than some shots are normal and some are weak.
Here is the parts list: TM Frame and internals sear, hammer, knocker, etc.. Airsoft Suregon Slide, barrel; and comp SD STI Grip, trigger Not sure else what to list. I have oiled the valves on the magazines amd tried 6 different mags with the same results. I tried the same magazines on a known good gun and they worked fine. So I pretty much can rule out the mags. The hammer spring seems pretty strong to me. It does not seem weaker since it was working correctly. I even traded it out for a stronger one with the same results. With the new build a new BBU was installed so I know that is not it either. Thanks for the help Brian!! |

Doh. Sounds like you have a gun with gremlins. I hate these. Best thing you can do, is to take a known working gun, and swap in every single part one-by-one, until you've ruled out the problem part.

However, I think I figured it out but need to do a little more testing. While swapping parts around I ended up putting in a hammer spring that was stronger than stock. I had problems with these stronger springs in the past. I swapped it for a stock spring and I think it is working now. I havent had a chance to put it through its paces but on a couple of mags it seems corrected. I have yet to see a "upgraded" hammer spring that actually did anything positive. IMO a waste of money..... Last edited by RJT; August 12th, 2011 at 00:26.. |

Update: No more gremlins!!! It was the hammer spring after all. The stock one works like a champ.
Thanks guys and I hope this helps someone else in the future. |

Glad to hear you got it sorted out. I personally always use upgraded hammer springs, as I've seen a problems locally with propane gas on stock hammer springs - particularly during the summer months.

Which BBU would be better, the Airsoft Surgeon or Nineball? I haven't heard much about the airsoft surgeon ones. But Nineball one from what i heard i have mix feelings about.

Each excels in certain areas, so not one is "better" than the other, except when you look at specific characteristics.
In general, the lighter the weight, the less felt blowback you will have, as well as reduced muzzle flip and ability to maintain control of the weapon. This all can be considered a good thing or a bad thing. Sometimes I prefer to go with a heavier weight to achieve a greater sense of "realism" due to felt blowback... so it is build specific, and in that regard, I will choose an OEM Marui blowback unit (the heaviest available) over any aftermarket one for some builds. Other benefits of lighter weight blowback units include: - Faster slide cycling speed - Reduced gas consumption The ILLusion Kinetics Super Light Weight Blowback Unit (same OEM as Airsoft Surgeon) sits in the middle, and is generally a good compromise between the ultra light Nine Ball Featherweight BBU and the heavier Marui BBU. Keep in mind, the IK/AS BBU has an integrated piston assembly that uses a proprietary mount and will not allow you to use your own piston head on it if you are picky about that. I haven't had any problems with that piston head though. To put in to perspective the weight difference between the Nine Ball Featherweight BBU and the Marui BBU, I have a fully built slide assembly here, that has: - ILLusion Kinetics 4.3" ported aluminum slide - ILLusion Kinetics aluminum cocking handle - Nine Ball Featherweight BBU - Action Power Up Cylinder Bulb - Shooters Design POM Cylinder Set ... and that entire assembly weighs LESS than the Marui BBU alone! What have you heard about the Nine Ball BBU? I realize there are concerns over the fact it is plastic, but I've put several hundred rounds through a couple builds that use it so far, and the Featherweight BBU doesn't even show a scratch.

Hey Illusion do you think that the Airsoft Surgeon Jim Boland .38 Compensator will fit in Airsoft Surgeon Shuey Black slide?

I suppose, but you'll still run in to two main problems:
1) Difficulty in finding a comp barrel - we don't sell them on their own. Where will you find one that matches our mount? It would be easier to mill down the muzzle of the Shuey slide to the proper length. At least that way, you'd have the sharp edges of the slide muzzle to mate with the sharp edges of the comp. Otherwise, our slides designed to work on their own will have a beveled edge, will won't give a smooth transition to the comp. 2) The round edges of the comp will not match the flat angles of the Shuey slide. The transition will not be smooth. As I said earlier, it'd be a bit of an aesthetic nightmare. |

ok never mind about the AS slide. But do you know any where that sell a comp that looks similar to one i showed that actually fits a standard 5.1.

Yup. PDI JB Comp.... if you can still find it in stock anywhere. They're no longer in production.
