JG M4 SIR Metal Hop up?
can someone tell me if i can use a metal hop up unit in the JG M4 SIR? i was planning on getting the Prometheus NEO metal hop (M4 model). i had almost ordered it, then a member here dropped by today with his JG M4 and said he believed a metal hop up would not be compatible with this gun.
can anyone confirm whether it will or will not work? thanks, ginnz. |

You need a 2-piece hopup unit in plastic body guns. Those metal units are 1-piece and won't fit.

Or you need to modify your plastic body for a one piece hopup.

Correct. It can be made to fit, but I personally wouldn't recommend it. The 2 plastic guns I've seen modded to fit a metal hopup have a lot of body flex now because it involves removing some of the bracing that stabilizes the lower receiver.
The stock hopup unit is fine. If it breaks, replace it with a TM 2-piece plastic hopup. Just get a better quality hopup rubber and you're golden.
