Gas conversion for Rifles?

Has anyone converted their sniper rifle to a gas cylinder?

they have conversion kits for everything I think, I have an L96 personally. I was wondering if they are worth 200-250 bucks. Are they more consistant? Basically I was wondering if its a worth while mod or not

I hear they're not that consistent. Tanaka's are probably the most consistent (perhaps along with the KJW clones) since the gas reservoir in the mags are huge, but even so, I notice a HUGE improvement with my Tanaka when I run it on regulated CO2 compared to propane filled mags.

if you have a spring, then keep it as such. the only advantage to gas rifles are the realism and ease of turning the bolt, and the huge FPS increase on hot days. i love gas rifles. i love my tanaka kar98k, but because it is gas, i am going to have to buy (like i need an excuse anyway ) an MP44 if i want to play WWII in the cold weather. spring guns can be used in any weather and fire very consistently, which = more accuracy. keep your maruzen as it is.

The exception to the consistency issues may be if you decide to acquire the gas conversion for a spring rifle in order to modify it to run constant air. Consistent, whisper quiet, and velocity is more easily adjusted for different field limits than swapping a spring. However, you will need to run a hose to a tank. It's personal preference.

basically. i forgot to add that though. gas guns are MUCH more stealthy than spring guns. ya sure, you will get someone who says he did X to his gun and made it quiet. and you know what? he probably did. but it wont compare to a nice gas rifle. i dunno, i will eventually buy a spring gun, but my god, gas rifles are awesome! if not as a sniper's rifle, then definitely as an infantry gun

Donster - did you buy that as a gas gun or did you install an aftermarket kit?

my Tanaka Kar98k is a gas gun. i have only have seen and touched 1 gas-cylinder upgrade kit. if you really want a gas gun, buy it separately, dont upgrade. Tanaka makes great gas guns cause the gas is filled into the mag, not the bolt like the upgrade kits or Marushin guns. problem is, the status on tanaka and whether or not its actually still producing guns is unknown. Try Ares guns if you have a nice big budget. if not, just keep your spring gun.

have an ares aw338, on regular propane it was pretty much useless here in norway, becouse of cold weather.. mounted a couldshot system from magnumbb and i am impressed...
first off all the consist of the fps. with only the first regulator used i got under 10fps in difference, and with both regulators i got less than 3fps in difference..
shoots more than 6 mag strips on eatch 12g cartridge, and its 22shots in each.
and best off all, the regulators ceep it stable down to at least -10c.

i guess CO2 would be worse in the cold, rather than propane?

Naw, regulated CO2 is much much better than propane in any weather, especially in the cold. I'm not sure about unregulated.
