CASV, gas block and front sight clearance

i got a question,. i run a casv on my cqb, i would like to put on a flip sight, atop a railed gas block, now seeing as the casv has a "nitro rail" (spine rail - terminology?) bo i need a gas block that is higher than normal to not only raise my front sight to be inline with the rear sight but to be even with the rest of the rail, is there such a thing or are all railed gas blocks the same height? or any other recomendations for what i could do?

No. The CASV "nitro" rail (at least all of the ones that I've seen) ends 1 notch short of the charging handle.

So your flip up rear sight goes in that last, most rearward, position...your front goes on as normal...and you're all set. Just like "normal" and as if the CASV isn't even there.

Hope that made sense...haven't had enough coffee yet...

ya thats right, but im having a tough time mounting a flip sight in there. i have som mre flips and the casv is too narrow to put the front sight on with out a taller than normal gas block. i think i read somewhere about some one modding theirs to allow a better fit

The new KA CASV's have a little rail that you can bolt onto the front where the triangle sight would normally pop up out of.

Look close at the front end of this pic...you can see the little rail.

That's a CASV-M, not an EL, which is the one you probably have.

Just get the CASV-M and save yourself the hassles.

What you're thinking probably isn't going to work anyways.

Notice the rear sight is mounted on the "nitro rail". But I still have that one segment of the rail at the back. I did this mainly to get cowitnessing of the aimpoint on the Wilcox type mount. The front sight is mounted on a piece of regular CASV rail cut to fit on the CASV-M detachable rail spot. I stop using the Wilcox because with the CASV and the raiser mount it is sticking up quite high. I switched to a lower mount for Aimpoint and I stop doing that...
