M24/M 700 tips and tricks
Looking to get my first sniper rig going and am looking at an M24/M700 set up, but would like to mod it a little right from the get go to get it shooting better than stock, to somewhere in the 200 ft. range.
What I'd like to know is what are the mods most likely to give results in Range and Accuracy (besides Barrel and rubber... Im set on Promths./systema) for this type of rifle and who makes what. Pros and cons of various mods are also appreciated. I have an M4 and know whats out there for upgrades, but am not too dialed in on whats out there for sniper rifles. Oh yeah.. should have asked this first I guess, but who makes the better gun? I see guys swearing by CA, but I hear bad things too. Hard to tell. Build quality is important. Regards, J |

I'm not well versed in the CA M24, but for the VSR-10 I've found that PDI upgrades greatly out preform Laylax upgrades..
Why are you set on Prometheus / Systema barrel/rubber? You should really try Prometheus barrel with a Firefly hop-up |

I live in Italy right now and would have to order firefly rubbers from Canada.... but systema are readily available, so I go with those.... for now. As for the Barrel, everyone raves about promethius, and I just put one in my M4 last friday and had a go this weekend.... I was suitably impressed... well, so far anyway. Figure its a good bet it would do nicely in a sniper set too.
BTW... the VSR 10 a M24 clone/replica? Looks real similar. |

The VSR10 and the M24 are completely different rifles.
The M24 is made by Classic Army. It's a heavy, solid rifle that, once upgraded, is the workhorse of the airsoft sniper rifles. It feel close to a real rifle when you hold it. The TM VSR-10 is a good rifle once upgraded, but it still feel like a toy. The Marusen APS2 is also, like the M24, the best sniper rifle there is once upgraded properly. It still feel light and toyish, but it function very very well. If you go for a gas rifle, the M700 is a great rifle. It feel very good in hand. I had one and it was hard to sell it. I sold it only because I don't like gas rifle. I curently own an upgraded M24 and an upgraded Maruzen L96. Both spring.

I would imagine that a gas rifle would be louder than a spring powered one..... based on my GBB p226, which when fired, lets off a good pop! Do airsoft supressors make any difference for this?
Im guessing not, as that would make them "real" and thus, highly Illegal ; ) |

Suppressors will change the report slightly but other than slightly muffle the initial 'crack', it won't affect much. In Canada as far as I know, foam filled ones for airsoft are perfectly legal, I have a Gemtech G5 that I took apart and it's filled with I think steel wool.

Gas rifles are far quieter than stock and most upgraded spring rifles. the blow back mechanism on pistols generates a lot of noise, movement (more noise). You cannot compare a Blow back and non blow back Gas gun for noise generated.
