Canadian Customs

Will a clear airsoft pistol with an fps of 270 have any trouble getting through Canadian customs? Also, after customs opens the package, will they call me and ask for a tariff tax or something like that?

Thanks

Clear bodied airsoft guns usually should not have an issue comming into Canada. That is not to say that some customs agent wont seize it simply because they can. Im sure you should have no issue importing a clear bodied pistol.

When it comes to taxes and fees, if they are applicable they would be handled by Canada post or whatever other company was choosen to deliver your item. So if Fedex delivered your item and there was 5 dollars outsanding due, you would simply pay Fedex.

The 'outstanding' will be translated into lamans terms as 'duty'. You can expect it. See the 'duty' we pay is our government collecting GST on items we have not paid GST for. If it did not originate in Canada the reciept of sale attached to the package will be used to determine this.
Any item that this applies to will need cash at the door on delivery or go to the holding sight, postal outlet or fedex building.

So lemme get this straight, it should get through customs and if they do sieze it, it should be allowed to go through and once its delivered, the postman or post office (if I have to pick it up) will charge me a fee? Is this correct?

THanks

There's no guarantee it'll get through, and if it does you'll probably at minimum get charged GST, PST (or HST) and a CBSA handling fee (~$5). You may also get charged duty, depending on the item (which is also taxable). Customs fees are payable upon receipt of the package (to your mail carrier, or from the post office).

How will I know if it gets seized? Approximately how much would the fees be for a cheap $20 spring? Also, is there a chance that customs doesn't seize it and if they don't will there still be a fee?

Thanks

You'll be alright man, the CBSA does hold items from time to time that they shouldn't and in that case you must take the time to make the appropriate phone calls.
Gun has the neccessary clear parts and shoots a mild fps giving you no red flags for siezure, but like Drake said no gaurantee. In my experience it gets sent back, you pay shipping both ways but get refunded/credited.
If you don't like your chances buy in country.

Chances you wont have tax on it? NONE. It could happen but never count on it. The charge is all local taxes plus $5 handleing fee. Small purchases for small amounts (like one spring) rarely get customs fees.

Oh man, no you don't need to call anyone. In fact the CBSA dosn't give out numbers, even if they overcharge you they just give you an address on a claim form. THE ONLY WAY you would phone them is if they contacted you. And that is also the only way you'll know if it was siezed. No phone, just wait for the mail.

You'll get a notice of seizure instead of your package and a way to appeal the seizure.

How old are you really? If you're 18+ I'd highly recommend getting AV'ed and getting your stuff through the classifieds here.

When an item is siezed Canada customs sends you out a letter to notify you that the item has been taken, why it has been taken and contact information if you wish to dispute it.

If you have such serious worries about the item making it here then I recommend going to walmart or canadian tire and purchasing one of their clear springer pistols. The price is usually in the 25-35 dollar area, that way you avoid any issues with shipping and you will have it instantly. As added bonus since you bought it from a store, if it breaks with in the time of the return policy you can simply take it back and get a new one or your money back.
