Russian TTsKO Camo Uniforms - Are You Having Trouble Finding Them?
Russian forces did not use the TTsKO pattern for very long, and as a result, it can be pretty difficult to find those uniforms from a Russian army surplus retailer.
However, I've got some good news - the Ukranian military still uses that very same TTsKO pattern to this day, and it is thus a great deal easier to find. I thought this might be relevant to anyone going for that Cold War Spets Naz look. |

The Ukrainian stuff isn't the same btw. (http://www.kamouflage.net/camouflage/en_00027.php) The camo has more green in it (doesn't show that well in that pic) and also it's made of a poly blend, while the Russian TTsKO uniforms were all cotton. The Soviets used much more of the brown based one than the greener one that Ukraine currently fields. Lastly, it's "Spetsnaz", not "Spets Naz" ![]()

The pattern on the current Ukrainian camo is indeed very close to the original Soviet TTsKO although the cut is very different from the Soviet "afghanka" uniforms.
Russians still use the pattern by the way, but just for Airfoce and some Navy pilots, as well as helo crews. |

Not A Huge Fan Of All-Cotton
You know it's funny? I always thought the words "special" and "forces" were each indivdual words, but I'm absolutely terrible at reading Cyrillic, so you're probably right.
Symantics. I was only really talking camo patterns here, but I like that we're sharing information. And while we're doing that, can any of you offer up a reliable retailer that sells original Russian TTsKO-pattern uniforms? I'd be happy to add that to my collection. My Ukranian uniform actually doesn't have very much (or any, really, unless I'm colorblind all of a sudden) green to it, although you're right about the poly-blend. I'm just as happy about that part, anyway - anybody here enjoy wearing uniforms made from a lot of cotton? The pockets also aren't as 'utilitarian' with my Ukrane version. This is why I'm still keeping an eye out for the Russian model. Last edited by Nabisco_Lobstrosity; January 19th, 2007 at 00:20.. Reason: Added an image link |

I've got a set of "dubok", it's pretty low quality. Faded after one wash. Original uniforms are pretty hard to get. Ebay has them once in a while, but it's mostly small and medium sizes.

Probably not as much as old soviet stuff, this set was made in Ukraine, at least the label is in Ukrainian, not Russian.

Russian TTsKo should be about 150$
Soviet TTsKo should be around 200$ if not more.

Camo might look the same but from what I can see on your pics cut is a bit different. Also, my "dubok" and original TTsKo sets are made from different materials.

This is real soviet TTsKO, I have this uniform.
It's in a Tank crew cut also, shirt tucks in, pants come with belt. Built in Makarov holster in left breast pocket. Just so you fanboy's know, this is the camouflage used by the terrorists in the tanker level of MGS2, though that wasn't the reason why I got it.
