Talking diy aeg maintainance

some guys get their new aeg/gbb and wonder where/how to perform the simple maint./cleaning/lubrication? granted i think theres still a little apprehension of digging in to the internals to access what/ where you,d like to do this.hook up with a tech or someone who has been shown and is comfortable with doing their own work.this may alleviate some fears of having parts broken by force/popping out and not remembering where it goes back.just a thought.cheers.

Besides from periodically cleaning the barrel, there isn't much you can do without popping the GB though.

Some AEGs require full takedown before you can even access the barrel (MP5 Navy).

Slowly take ur time to do a full take down. Once u've done that, it's already 1/2 done. Popping the GB open is 1/2 the fun.

Shoot in semi after use to clear the chamber and decompress the spring.

Get a lube job once every so often (Barrel/Gearbox)
Maybe replace parts depending on their wear and damange looking (If it looks like it's going to break, fix it before it busts in a bad moment)

Just some general ideas I follow.

If you ever notice consistency is going down, remove your hopup rubber and wash with warm dishsoapy water, reapply fresh silicone oil, dont overoil, and clean the barrel. Otherwise unless you have a heavy trigger, one good mechbox clean and lube will last you quite a while untill something breaks.
