Hi all, I am a airsoft newbie and wanna play russia.

I saw the following vest in ebay, which seems to be a good deal:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Splav-Spetsn...d=p3286.c0.m14

Does anyone own one of this?? I saw some russians wear this vest.

Another other good recommendations for AK vest?? Thanks smile.gif

Well, if you want to look "Russian", go with real surplus Russian gear...I did.

I got a Pioneer M23 chestrig made in Russia by a company called SPLAV. It's out of production now, but you can find them for under $100 on EBAY sometimes. A good place to buy Russkie gear is http://www.soviet-propaganda.com/.

Also, a great airsoft site dedicated to Russian impressions is http://www.red-alliance.net/

Grad 1, grad 2, or 6sh92-5 would be my recommendations. All the same for the most part, but different camo's.

Another one I've recently picked up is the Smersh. Its more to my liking as I'm not all that much into chest rigs.

I wouldn't reccomend SPLAV stuff, somewhat low quality compared to the higher quality manufacturers (SPOSN, NPOSM, ANA).

Getting a vest depends on what branch of the Russian Army/Armed Forces that you want to create a kit out of, if you don't want to do an impression per se, any vest will be good for you.

What is the Russian body armour? I only see them in chest harness really. Anyone make a good repro or would I have to search one out on ebay?

There are tens of variations of Russian body armor, and they are very expensive, no one makes repro's of Russian gear yet.

You can search ebay for the real deal, expect to pay $500+

Hi Conscript, do you mind telling us more about how bad is the quality of Splav's stuff?

My M23 Pioneer looks almost brand new after 6 years. The thing is built like a tank - double or triple box-stitched everywhere. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles of MOLLE gear, but fits enough (8) mags and has an internal stowage pocket for maps and/or killrags or whatever. Maybe their newer stuff is crap, but the M23 is a can't-miss deal.

I never said it was bad, I am only comparing it to the other manufacturers, if you know someone with SPOSN or ANA gear, go try it on, nothing else will compare. Keep in mind, SPLAV makes gear for the commercial market as well, while SPOSN and ANA have actual Russian military contracts to specifically make and tailor gear that the army requires.

there is a big difference: to wear russian LBV or dress "in russian style"..

what do yo want to choose?
Which period? Type of unit? Have any photo how do you want to "dress"?
