CA M249 no semi auto? So how do I decompress the spring?
M249's only have full auto and safety, but most other AEG's require the few shots in semi to decompress the spring. How is that done on a M249?

by firing and letting go at the correct time for the piston to remain forward. It's quite easy once you get used to the sound.

that or just take the spring out (for storage)... 10 second job...

So lightly tapping the trigger a few times to simulate semi auto is the best way?

Just try to get it to barely cycle tell it fires, after that you'll be fine, Or just take out the spring.

And as for the taking out the spring suggestion, that's not a viable option. You have to remove the spring when it's fully decompressed. You'll have fun trying to reinstall the spring if your piston is cocked. You'll probably have to remove the mechbox from the gun and hit the antireversal latch to reset the piston to battery so you can reinstall the spring.

+1 on hitting the trigger really quick till you get it to end at the right spot. and +1 on taking the spring out for storing over winter, so easy on a CA249
|

pop open then top half of the gun exposing the upper section of the gear box there should be a hex screw in the back unscrew it and out comes the springs takes no longer than 5-6 seconds really... I wish all guns were like that.

Yeah, removing the spring is so easy. The only catch is that it has to be decompressed before you open it up. But removing the spring for storage is indeed a good idea. Removal just not a substitute for decompressing.
And I believe that Star V2 mechboxes have that feature as well. Springs are removeable in second via a similar plug at the back of the mechbox.
