Gun color
Hey, so I am in the process of painting my CA M4 back to black. So far with my CASV handguard and Eotech, it's not really the black I wanted. Is it possible to get back the factory black on a gun?
I dont know if you can see, but its pretty light, almost a grey color to it. Will this change after I put a clearcoat on it? A flat clearcoat of course |

I'm not sure what finish that paint is (I'm going to assume you used Krylon?), but usually gloss finishes lighten the paint a bit. Try a bit of flat coat and see what happens. You could also put down an extra few coats. Depending on how light the gun was before the first coat, usually some of the underlying colour seeps through. You might have to do 2-3 coats of black to cover up a lighter colour. We use the same concept in plastic modeling, but we reverse it, using a darker colour to darken a lighter colour coat to simulate dirt and weathering.

multiple layers. And plus real guns sometimes have a greyish colour to em, so don't fret.
