Real Steel : The semi-auto only G36 is legal in Canuckistan, they're either Non-Restricted or Restricted depending on it's barrel length. The main problem is that the laws in Germany prevents the sale of 'military' firearms to the civilian market : H&K will require an end-user certificate to export those. There are, to my knowledge, less that 20 genuine (aka not SL-8 conversions) in Canada on the civilian market, and the cheapest I've seen was sold for about 12K$ on CGN. These were imported with an EUC for police evaluation and were rejected, so they legally ended up on the civvy market.
Having handled the real deal, I have to say it is well designed, but there is nothing exceptional about it. For that kind of money, other for the collectors' value, I'd rather buy 2 or 3 decked out piston-operated LMTs, Noveske's or something similar.
