I have travelled there and have friends throughout the country. I could cite ample statistics about the saftey record of the domestic airlines in Russia and the Tupolev, modernized or otherwise but that is another discussion for another time. My neighbors (Polish) raise the same concerns. No disrespect implied or intended. Frustration perhaps.

I saw a Polish Canadain Politician remarking on the symbolizim of this tradgedy I believe they were flying for this Katyn event.
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/08/wo...e/08putin.html Its a terrible accident and there's a lot of back and forth of 'not' accussing anyone and who will make the investigations. Its a testament to the Polish people that the very night huge memorials and ceremonies were massively attended and smooth. Again the Poles have a rough road ahead and I hope to see the other European Union members stepping in to assist Short term. |

Along with the President died a large cross section of the country's living history and elite. There exist protocols and procedures designed specifically to avoid this. Their security coordinators failed them.
I think it goes without saying that I do wish the best for those killed. The universal grief expressed says something about his administration. |
