Gas Block and Gas Tube...

What are the following parts for? Are they necessary components? I am grateful any info.

G&P RAS Gas Block

on a real rifle expanding gas from behind the bullet would be funneled up into the gas block, through the gas tube and would push the bolt back to cycle the action/load a round etc...

on airsoft, they are cosmetic

Thanks!!! The gas tube is straightly cosmetic. I can ignore it.

It seems Gas block is just a barrel mount ring for mounting additional accessories. Why call it gas block??

It's designed to replicate that of the real gun, and on a real gun, that part is called the gas block. You can call it what you want, but if you want to communicate with people, calling it a unicorn stud won't get you very far.

Am I correct that they are strictly cosmetic parts and no other airsoft parts depends on them at all?



Am I correct that the base of the outer barrel is mounted on a delta ring? The delta ring is responsible for attaching both outer barrel and rail system together and stabilize them?

Sure, to fire a BB you don't need the gas block or the gas tube (more often then not, just a thick steel wire).

It'll look a bit funny, because on the real steel, you'd have to rack the charging handle each time because the bolt wouldn't cycle from discharging a round.

You are also correct, at the base of the outer barrel is a shelf which is where the delta ring sits after being slid over the outer barrel, and then the delta ring screws onto the upper receiver, securing the outer barrel to the upper.

I see there are some Delta Ring modification kit like the following:

The purpose of these tools seem to rewrite a new threading on a upper receiver? Am I correct? Why this is necessary? Do the adapters of all upper receivers already come with a proper threading?

Is this "Shelf" always come with an outer barrel?
