How durable are eotech clones?

I was wondering if its necessary to purchase a lens protector for my eotech 552 clone which has yet to arrive in the mail. Im also thinking about mounting the holo sight on a paintball marker, but im not too sure if it can withstand a paintball.

What are your thoughts?

A lens protector is always a good idea as they have a tendancy to be shot out

Paintball? I really don't know but I have seen bbs trash cheap china shit and in all honesty I could not recommend you try without knowing in the back of my mind that its bound to fail.

Put some real money into your optic, its the one item that can be used on almost any weapon and therefore hold better resale value.

BBs could damage real EOTech stuff too depending on the weight and power of the shot. The glass isn't super reinforced since it's not there to protect anything, just house the assembly.

I have an eotech clone and it got shot and the glass cracked. It still works, but it's less appealing to use. Get protectors for whatever you get, even if it's a real one, they're like $10 per and they'll do the cracking instead of the $150 clone.
