CA36 Mess

Hello,

I came back this summer to find my Classic Army CA36K to be completely nonfunctional. About ~1000 BBs have been shot through it since I acquired it in June, only been out a couple weekends. I've pinpointed to problem to be in two places:

A.) The gun won't fire most likely due to a motor problem when when a fully charged 1600 mah battery is plugged in all that is heard is a muffled click from the pistol grip, gun does not respond at all besides this. I've included a nifty youtube video below detailing the sound it's making.

B.) A BB is jammed in the hop-up and I can't figure out how to unjam the hop-up. I made the mistake of disassembling my gun hopefully trying to dislodge the BB by removing the barrel, unfortunately some pieces popped out of the hopup. I've included some pictures below of the pieces and the current state of the hop-up unit. I'd ideally hope to reassemble a functioning hop-up and unjam the hop-up.

1st question, what is the voltage on your battery? The CA36 series are known for burning out trigger contacts so you might want to inspect those. If able, see if a 9.6V will turn over the motor. Chances are the spring is compressed and the motor isn't powerfull enough to reset it.
Typically people clear BBs out of hop up units with a plastic unjamming rod. However, seeing as were already past that point the pieces in the pic need to go togeather as such: 1st, take out the rest of the hop up unit by pushing it towards the front of the gun, rotating it 90 deg, and then pull it out to the rear of the gun. Then dissasemble the entire hopup. 2nd place the hopup rubber on the end (with the extra hole and knotches) of the barrel making sure that the thick part is over the hole. 3rd ensure that the little brass ring is sitting just foreward of the rubber. 4th insert that assembly into the main hop up unit untill the beginning of the knotches meet the plastic. 5th Place the hop up bucking(the middle peice in the picture) in the cradle of the peice on the right. 6th insert those peices into the top of the main assembly. 7th starting at the muzzle slide on the large plastic ring with the larger end facing the main assembly making sure that the peices you just put in are under the ring. Finally, snap the c shaped peice (on the left of the photo) onto the knotches in the barrel with the large end pushing up againsed the main assembly.

You will also want to remove the barrel group from the receiver before doing all that.

To do so, you have to remove the handguard pin (just like when you install a battery), then remove the 3 screws that go across the receiver and that are hidden by the hanguard.

Then pull forward on the barrel assembly. It will move out about 1/2". You might have to lift/tilt it to completely remove it. DO NOT FORCE ON IT. It goes out fairly easy.

Alright the problems were fixed with the generous help of Cottoni. Solutions to both problems for future reference:

A.) The 8.4v battery I was using did not have enough voltage to cycle the spring, I swapped for a 9.6v from Cottoni and internals are meshing prefectly.

B.) The hop-up had to be replaced after I cracked the syetem pulling the inner barrel out.
