Flashider notch - up or down?

Little quick question: on a standard birdcage flashider, the notch should be up or down?

PS: Yeah I know it's a RS thing and doesn't change anything in airsoft. If you want to say something along these lines, or how I'm a retard for giving importance to such small things, please kindly GTFO.

What's the "notch" that you're referring to. The standard birdcage flash hider has no notch. The Knight's Armament A2 birdcage does have a notch at the muzzle, and it's the only thing that would differentiate it from a standard A2 birdcage flash hider.

The compensator ports point up. Think of the purpose, and that'll give you an idea of which way it goes. The purpose of real steel is to blow the gas *up*, to keep the muzzle down.

The muzzle notch is to allow the Knight's Armament M4QD suppressor to index to it.

So that's what I thought, the notch goes at the bottom so the gas ports are at the top.

Yes I was talking about the A2 birdcage.

Thanks!

I believe part of the reason there are no ports on the bottom of the flash suppressor is also to keep from blowing dust and dirt up from the ground when shooting from the prone position.

That would make sense as well.
