My ICS is the Smith&Wessons that Submarineman sell (sold by Cybergun...as i found out)
Anyway i just email Socom Gear for clarification on the threading of the DD rails.
If i receive info, i will try to locate a tap to modify my upper.
I will take my time as not to waste/break my upper.

Whats the problem with the thread anyway? to large?

Again thanks for your help Kos-Mos!

The threads on the receiver are SAE (American inch system) and the RIS is Metric system (as most accessories, since TM is metric also).

You can do it with a dremel and cutting disk if you take your time. Basically, you have to make the threds deeper and then smooth it out a bit (I have pressed the cutting disk in the treads everywhere, then sanded with 200 grit paper and buffered with a steel brush on the dremel).

The best way is to source the Metric tap and do it properly...

From the search I've made; socom gear dd mk18 rails are real steel spec; so the threading should be imperial.

Anyway; will probably receive my parts tomorrow or Thursday. Will update when i try to install it...

Again; thanks for the tips Kos-Mos

Depends if you ordered the version for WETTI M4 or for AEGs. The WETTI uses RS parts so the rail has to be RS.

The AEG version uses metric to fit on most AEGs.

Didn't receive my part yet but Socom gear replied to my email:

Hi Stéphane,

The ICS M4A1 is similar to the Tokyo Marui setup which is what our rails are produced for.
The barrel nut should fit properly.
Will see if they are accurate when i get the rail (probably today/tomorrow)

WE threads are the same as ICS ones(so metric?) using a barrel nut that a friend gave me. The socom gear DD one didnt fit on my ICS m4 so just a heads up you might have to get another, unless mine was just messed up or something

edit: its better just to find a barrel nut thats compatibile for the rail and the reciever, rather than rethreading. If your not careful you can have a useless upper reciever...

Ok can confirm that the nut don't fit ICS for the dd rail... Tm threads are metric so ICS are imperial?

Magpull grip needed work and also the G&P crane stock.

You were right Kos-Mos

Just finish modding the thread on my receiver (+/- 1h00) not that bad...
Now have to rewire the mechbox... children play

Will put some pics i took while doing the work a little later...

Update:

The ris, stock and grip didn't fit at all... took me 4-5 hours to modify all the parts...

Had to redo the threads on the reciever for the barrel nut. Use the dremel for the ''prong'' that hold the buffer tube and also for the magpull grip.

Had to rewire the gearbox to the back and intall dean connectors for the batteries. I also installed a madbull black python tightbore.

Today i had to modify the original buffer tube from my ICS to replace the G&P...
Seem's like the buffer tube holder 'prong'' is to long for the G&P bt. Even when the screw is at it max there's a slack...
If i'd knowned; i wouldn't have dremeled the buffer tube holder tabs...
Anyway; with the ICS buffer tube; the stock as less play than with the G&P one.

Another thing to modify is the Magpull grip ''cap'' it force the motor to deep in the grip.

Still have to upgrade the internals... and make a dean connector for my battery charger.

Then i have to buy a Eotech or a M4 Aimpoint.

Didn't say it was easy.

But I guess you now have a sturdy gun that looks like you want it.

I can tell you, ICS' slit design is worth it. When ever anything breaks, you can either install a spare or fix it in a few minutes, with basic tool.

For your buffer problem, there is to solutions, either use the ICS buffer tube, and keep the quick field option.

Or cut the buffer tube prong and then screw the stock into the upper mechbox. You cannot field strip the gun anymore, but the gun gets a lot more solid. You will have to remove the stock to open the gun (like any other M4).

Everything is now solid. I still need to modify the magpull grip plate because it push the motor to deep in the grip and don't allow the adjustment screw to work properly

I upgraded the mechbox with modify parts.
I forgot to buy a modify cylinder head... (its my next purchase). The one in the ICS is plastic with only one o ring. I replaced the piston, piston head and put a modify m110+ spring. I replaced the plastic spring guide by a modify steel rotating one.

Now i'm waiting to have acces to a chronograph (next week)

Hello SHaKaL!
I just got the magpul grip, and I am ready to install it.
Before working on it, have you some tips for me please?
Is the mod complicated to do?
thanks in advance!
