TM Glock 17 hammer spring

Got a question... My Glock 17 hammer is failing to cock via racking of the slide, probably due to me installing a Guarder spring kit/spring guide incorrectly. Any ideas on how to get the hammer to stay down long enough for me to field strip the slide off and fix the issue?

actually quite easy on a TM: basically, pull slide back a 1/4", and push a SLIM or JEWELERS screwdriver in the back, and puck down the cocking mechanism, then field strip, and repair. sounds to me like you put the spring in backwards, which i have done a MILLION times on a TM GBB. so don't sweat it.

Same thing happen to me as well.

First I took some napkin to stuffs the hole where the hammer would rest in the slide.

Then, I took a box cutter, snapped a piece of the blade off. Tape this piece of blade to the bottom of the slide, so the hammer will have no place to rest, but stay in cocked condition.

Last, ask your significant half to use permanent marker, and write on your forehead that "I will always test the lower receiver before putting the slide back in place again."

Hope my broken english helps you.

Both of those help a bunch. I'll try it later tonight. Thanks.

LOL @ faithless's "I will always test the lower receiver before putting the slide back in place again." It totally slipped my mind this time... but yeah, I should definitely sharpie that all over my desk or something.

Okay, I lied. I just tried it now. Mike I couldn't figure out your solution as to how to get the jewler's screw driver to lock down the hammer mech... so I tried faithless's method and it worked like a charm. I didn't even bother with a hard plate, I just stuffed the cavity in the BBU with foam and beat the slide until it popped off, lmao. Thanks guys.

Edit: my mistake was forgetting to hook the opposite end of the valve knocker spring onto the tab of the sear... hence the sear wouldn't do anything that it was designed to do with the hammer. Gah...

Dunno if I havve the same problem but I also have a TM G17 with metal slide. Everytime I pull the slide back to cock it or leav it back the slide release doesn't engage but the slide stays locked back and I have to take the mag out and with my finger press down on the trigger lever I believe its called. But if I'm shooting it it blows back fine? Any help on thiss?

Sounds like either a bent trigger bar or a broken trigger spring.

I'd bet on a bent trigger bar. Guarder makes a replacement part for it; it definitely does the job for $18 USD in Hong Kong.
