How-to? Spring Upgrade
Hey guys
I bought a PDI 140 spring for my KA M4 (been told I should achieve 370-380 fps approximately, males sense?) However I never opened the thing, and I'm not too sure of the what and how. I've been looking on Youtube and Google in general, and of course on these forums, and couldn't find anything with step by step instructions or at least pics of different steps so I know what to look for. I wouldn't like loosing a tiny part or not knowing where it goes when it's time to put it back together... So if anyone have some instructions ready or better yet a video, or links to one, let me know. Other alternative would be to have a gun doc do it for me, in the greater montreal area. Anyone knows how much it'd cost me? Thanks guys MP

Your KA M4 is a bit different from a TM M4...the body comes apart a bit differently.
Remove the front receiver pin and the top receiver/barrel/etc...should slide forward off of the rifle. Be careful not rip/yank any wires and the charging handle might get stuck. Just take a good look at what you're doing and don't force anything. After that...the mechbox (which is a version 2) comes out of the lower receiver pretty much the same except for the TM hopup part (your hopup is a one piece and comes off with the top receiver). Then...it's a standard version 2 mechbox disassembly/reassembly. Look for the "v2 spring upgrade" video. Reassembly is pretty much the exact same in reverse. There are of course finer details and "finishing touches" that you'll probably miss the first time around...but stick with it and use you head. |

Thanks for your advices I already sperated the receivers to fix an issue I had with the bolt catch

Hey guys
I can proudly thank you for your advices as I "just finished" swapping my spring and apparenty all went well, not even a screw in extra at the end lol :P So it was just a heads up  At the same time: if anyone read that thread in search for info because like me they're not sure about getting to/into the gearbox, I'd tell you have no fear, take your time and use your head, it's really not that hard in the end. Took me about 2-2.5 hours, but spent more time in trying to put back that damn bolt catch in place than anything else lol :P
