thanks! i checked the website but i wasnt too sure if it was going to be compatible. but do you think its worth changing the gearbox? because i bought the kraken kurz from shootsoft.ca and spent 230$ with shipping and taxes only to realize after purchasing that it was on cabelas.ca for 99$...so again, do you think its worth changing the gearbox?

Use it until it breaks. When it does, change it then. If the AK is working - there's no real reason to change anything at this point.

If you want to make it last slightly longer it'd be a wise idea to take it apart and replace that sad excuse for lube with some proper lube (FinishLine Teflon). It'll put less stress on the gears and motor and it won't die out as quickly on you (although some Krakens have lasted only half a mag while others have lasted thousands of rounds, the QC is kind of hit and miss on them).

Other than that, not really. Just play with it until it breaks then get a drop in gearbox.

I've heard the ACTION V3 drop in gearbox is pretty good. Can't tell you about other brands though. Note that CYMA is the OEM manufacturer for Aftermath but I think they may use the crappier reject parts for aftermath gearboxes (ie. the "binned" parts). I think Dboys may be on the same level of quality as well.

Sometimes the best way to learn is to get hit in the pocketbook.

Next time do some comparison shopping and read reviews.

It's like my convenience store vs grocery store analogy. Do you buy your weekly groceries from the local corner store? Chances are you don't, you go to Sobeys, Safeway, Superstore, or whatever instead. Corner store is good for the convenience (ie. have people coming over and you need chips, and snackfood cause you ran out and forgot to buy them on your weekly shopping trip or got a game tomorrow need new battery, BB's, etc.). Although TBH shootsoft isn't really convenient like a true convenience store setup. I'm going to leave my personal judgments of them out of this.

good analogy. but i bought from shootsoft because theyre located in southshore (close to where i live) and i figured "hey, i might just be able to go pick up the gun rather then have it shipped" well i was wrong. anyways i asked a representative if he can do anything like match the price or at least lower it somewhat. anyways ill let you guys know whats happening with that. and oh, i think im gonna go with the drop in gearbox. any suggestions on making it full metal?

Unrelated and just FYI, using your email address as your forum name on any forum is a horrible idea. Spam bots crawl the internet all the time searching for email addresses to add to their spam lists.

You'll want to get a decent motor, battery, and charger too, I gamed my Kurz once and it was crap. You'll probably want to replace the clear lower too because the plastic is crap, I literally TOUCHED it with my Swiss Army Knife and it scratched. Also, the mag is made of low quality plastic so you might want to buy some more from airsoftparts.ca. My mag got hit by a three round burst during a game and it now has three white spots where the BBs hit meaning that it could potentially break on me if I don't treat it gingerly.

The aftermath Kraken kurz is a TM Beta Spetz Clone with a plastic version 3 gearbox. Upgrading the Kraken kurz to be gameable will require complete replacement of the gearbox. The better buy would be the Aftermath Kraken which comes with a Metal gearbox.

At that point it'd be Waaaaay easier and probably as expensive to buy a used/new but much much much better gun, don't you guys think?

There's great deals in the classifieds; Look in the stickies for Age Verification, get verified by following the process described in the threads, and then come back, you'll see great options.

Cheers
