remove paint from clear reciever

Try barkeeper's friend or comet on a wet rag. I've removed paint with that before, mind you it was off of metal but it's worth a shot.

you can't remove paint from a clear plastic and keep it clear.
the only way to get back some clear would be to re-polish the receiver after taking off the paint. you'd have to get deep enough in the plastic to go back to transparence, but without melting it.Good luck...

also depending on what the black paint was in the first place you need different chemicals.
if it's krylon you can try DEET
acetone and trichloro will destroy your receiver.


But that wouldn't change much from a legal point of view, from a distance (A few meters) it'd still appear realistic.

however you could repaint it ultramarine blue like some training weapon.
(it still doesn't change anything from a legal perspective)

I would not remove the paint, jush brush the receiver with 1000 grit sandpaper, prime it and then add the blue.
