Type 56-2 Project

I'm planning a project to modify my type 56-2 in the near future. The plan is to swap out the horribly heavy folding stock that doesn't fold (button needs to be hammered to fold everytime) with an M4 style stock. However, in order to do that, I need to drill out the rivets holding the folding stock in place and replace it with a rear stock trunnion (the part where the stock screws on to). I presume modifying the trunnion will be straight-foward as long as I can sand it down enough so it won't obstruct the internals. Also, I have found a polymer M4 buffer tube being sold that I presume can also be modified to fit with no problems if necessary. However, the hard part is the rivets. http://www.akparts.com/akinfo7.html This page tells me how to drill out rivets, make a rivet tool with the small end of a lawnmower crankshaft, heat the shank using a propane torch, etc. I have no idea what all that means, and now it feels like I'm banging my head against a wall. :banghead:

Any input is very much appreciated.

I would buy u a cup of joe if u could convert it to an 81-1.

PS:the foldable stock is a huge advantage.

Why don't you try fixing the stock instead?

I would leave it, but,
1. The stock is still too short for me, can't adjust it
2. It's heavy since its made out of steel, the weight makes cqb with stock folded less than optimal
3. Doesn't fold
4. Aesthetics

I mean, if no one wants to buy it anyways, and I end up using other guns in games, then it doesn't make sense having a 8 pound paperweight in my closet...

p.s. A type 81 would be fucking badass, too bad I'd need to make a new receiver, front sight and rear sight for that.
