Is there something wrong with WE GBBs? I keep seeing them so low priced in comparison to TM, but they're essentially the same only with metal frames aren't they?

WE (pistols) are TM clones, and somewhat reputed to break easily, wether it is the internals or frame cracking. I haven't use any WE so I'm just repeating what I read. There seems to be a great market for WE guns despite that as I see more and more retailers getting considerable shipment of WE pistols, maybe they improved their production quality over time?

Oh yeah, the old ones weren't worth their weight in gold, but the newer ones that everyone seems to be carrying, but seem to be being sold on the boards here for super low prices, are what I'm referring to. I've seen cansoft GBBs go for 160$, but full metal TM clones by WE Tech?!!! Makes me wonder.

Most TM Glock clones share their common issue of the screw casing breaking on the frame. I did plenty of stress tests on the HK3 Glock 17 frames and they all broke at one point or another.
My WE 17 also had the pleasure of breaking the outer barrel right where the muzzle and the chamber meet. Completely severed in half. Apparently, it's a common issue with WE Glocks. Though, with that steel slide kit i think everyone will be running into other issues before this happens. Its airsoft. You get what you pay for...

If we're talking stock GBBs then I totally agree. I just don't get why full metal, 100% marui compatible WE Tech GBBs are selling for half the price of a plastic TM. With the money you save on the WE GBB, you could just put the same upgrade parts in it as you would with a TM, but not have to upgrade the frame.

Japanese Fit, Finish and QC > Taiwanse/Chinese Fit, Finish and QC
When you look at electronics do you take the $10 Hip Street stereo or the $50 LG stereo? Sure they might work the same and both do what you want them to do , but when you plug your iPod into the Hip Street and it fries your iPod, I bet you'll wish you splurged and spent that extra $40 to buy the better LG stereo. Same goes for airsoft. Would you rather buy a chinese clone of something or the real mccoy? Name one instance where a chinese clone out performed the original. |

Definitely agree that Marui internals are for the most part better than the WE internals. However in my experience I've never had an issue with the durability of a WE gun. I just recently ported over a WE G17 Third Gen to all Guarder externals, and for the most part, no issues, the gun cycles like a charm.
My WE 1911 was my workhorse for 2 years, probably ran more than 3000-4000 BBs through it, other cosmetic paint damage, everything else was solid. Could be the case that I was lucky enough to not get any lemons, or that WE has learned that QC is important. |

I've had my WE 1911 for a few years now. It's a Socom gear one so it got an extra layer of QC. It shoots very well and all the controls feel super but the finish is not great.
For what I paid vs. what I got I'm completely satisfied.

I totally agree in going with the better value for a stock GBB, even if Marui are plastic externals. I guess I asked the wrong question cause my assumption was that most people upgrade the crap out of their GBBs like I do, so a 100% Marui compatible WE makes the most sense since it already has a metal body.
Good point though, rarely have I seen a clone beat TM, but I must say that the G&P WOC series is better than Western Arms M4s and the new Jin Gongs are just as good as TMs in my books. Not all, but most...once you clean up the horrible grease jobs. Quote:
