Tight XT Deans connectors
I just purchased some Deans style T connectors from Hobby King (link)
I tried test fitting the connectors together and they take some force to get together, and then once fully together, I cannot take them apart with my hands and need to use my teeth or pliers. Has anyone had any similar issues, or perhaps some ideas I could try? I'm not sure if sanding the contacts would be a good idea because the contacts are probably coated. Thanks all. |

Woah, what a coincidence I have the exact same problem. I got a batch of these yesterday, I found that after a while it gets easier to take apart.

That seems abnormal. The knockoffs can fit a bit tight but I never had to use anything other than my hands. Sometimes you need to get the angle just right and it should fit together smoothly.

I find the Hobby King deans connectors to be pretty tight when you first buy them, but they loosen up after a while.
The same thing can happen with XT60 connectors made in different batches/factories. Tight at first, loose later.

Modify has a similar issue with their deans connectors. They either changed suppliers or altered their production to include the little ridges to add grip when separating them.
The new ones are extremely tight fitting with the old ones but work fine if both sides are new. So much so that sometimes it seems as though they will never fit. After you work them in, they are all fine. |
