Delta Ring Removal

Just wondering for G&P on its Righty-Tighty facing barrel right?
Right now I dunno why but the factory one is stiff like hell, I've tried heating, silicon oil and letting it sip through without any avail. Am I doing the wrong direction? I've always remember G&P/Systema/AR-15 are righty tighty, lefty loosey

G&P tighten their delta rings on with an ungodly unbelievable amount of force.
Vice grip your upper and get a towel a wrench and prepare to suffer a hernia.

I gave up for now, I dont have the vice block for AR-15, is that okay? (using the upper rail piece)
I dunno but seriously, this feel like milspec torque...

Many people recommend the use of an armorers wrench if you have access to one.
If not it will be a very difficult task to remove, but doable none the less.

I'm using it already...Although the one I have does not have the torque setting hole.

using a mallet on the armorers wrench would help to un-stick it.
also using an upper vise block would help too, as the only way to get enough grip is to have the lower attached and use the pistol grip as a brace. i wouldn't personally do that, as these GBBR receivers aren't exactly made with highest quality materials.

One question no one has answer yet...which way is the G&P delta ring threaded? righty tighty?

Once again Dynamo I dont have vice block for it.

All of the delta rings that I have seen are clockwise threaded...+ve...righty-tighty.

Is it an AEG body? If so, try sticking a mechbox in the upper, depending on the fit it might take up the space and give you some more leverage to work with. But the high stress/thin part is right at the dust cover.

You could try a rubber strap wrench on the receiver...but it'll slip on all the curves/bumps.

Take a propane blowtorch to it and heat the collar....if that doesn't work cut it off with a dremel.

With the price and difficulty of getting some parts...I'd rather cut off a delta ring than crack an upper receiver.

I've been using a vertical grip on the flat top rail of the upper receiver and brace that against my body under my armpit and just crank on the armorer's wrench.....

I just snapped my metal body pin hole off trying to remove the delta ring, yay g&p... idiots, not impressed with this but I guess its my own fault

To avoid breaking you receiver I'd suggest the armorers wrench and the rubber mallet. Tap it in a few spots (not like your trying to kill it), and eventually it should wiggle free. Use a heat gun, not a torch (my opinion).

If you don't have an armorers wrench there is another way to jar your D-ring loose. This may bang up your D-ring if your not careful, but D-rings are cheap and easy to replace, receivers are not. Take a small hammer (metal), and a Robertson screw driver (about a number two). Place the screw driver on each to tooth firmly, and give it a whack in a counter clock wise direction. Do this all the way around the D-ring (it may take a few times around). This should loosen your D-ring enough to get it with a wrench, of even by hand.

It took two people, a heat gun, and a large angry armorers wrench to get a teammates G&P delta ring off.

Another trick I've used for AEG bodies is...

- clamp the top rail of the upper in a vice (one of my vices have high density plastic jaw inserts so it won't mangle the rail)
- hold as close up to the delta ring as you can (ahead of the weak part of the ejection port)
- use a proper fitting wrench (the KA one is actually very good)
- heat up the delta ring with a propane torch

I try not to hammer the wrench (may light-med force with a hard rubber mallet at the most).

If that doesn't work...I'm cutting it off with a dremel and a cut off wheel.
