CYMA M14 (CM-032) Low FPS out of the box
I recently picked up the CYMA CM-032 M14 (Full Length)
Out of the box with .20's it's supposed to be shooting at around 350-355Fps range but mine is shooting closer to 295-300FPS.. even after a re-wire (16Guage), switch to Deans and a 9.6V battery. Is it normal for guns to shoot that much lower then advertised out of the box? Or did i get a lemon.. |

electric system has nothing to do with compression/fps.
without opening your gearbox it's nearly impossible to tell what could be wrong, weak spring, leaky pistonhead oring, leaky cylinderhead oring or leaky nozzle oring or lack of a nozzle. You can try checking the mate between barrel/hopup to the front of the gearbox, or try reseating the hopup rubber.

I would have done full compression checks and gearbox tuning while you had it open redoing the wiring... maybe something was put back together wrong/not seated correctly

its a version 7 gearbox so the wires were all on the outside. Didn't need to open gearbox.
When i pull back the bolt i noticed that the gearbox shell does not seem to be fully aligned at the seams.. there doesn't appear to be any open cracks or anything like that but a noticeable ridge where the two halves of the gearbox join. Could this be the issue? I'll end up taking this apart and fully upgrading eventually.. but it's brand new and not overly easy to disassemble so I'm waiting a bit before upgrading. Every single video and/or review i come across though has this thing shooting at 350+... there must be something wrong from the factory. |

The asymmetric ridge along the top ridge of where the gear box is joined, visible when the bolt cover is drawn back, is normal. My G&P, ACM, and CYMA gear boxes all had this.
I'd go air-seal investigation route also. 295-300 fps is not normal. |
