Post Brazilian custom SVD Dragunov

First thing first: sorry for the bad english!

In this thread I want to show how I custom my SVD Dragunov to transform the rifle in a Afghan style insurgent sniper for my afghan loadout.
Firstmore I will talk a little bit about this SVD. Here in Brazil we do not have a sort of guns and trademarks like North America or Europe, and the SVD is a not so ordinary sniper in Brazil. So I brought the only SVD in the market, the A&K SVD with ABS handguard and stock. Bought the item for passion, because the item itself does not function very well, the hopup isn’t good and the barrel, well, its a commom AEG barrel. For serious airsoft players, this item does not serve his purpose very well. In this instance I has bought an Czech hopup chamber, because de the original in 50% of the times double feed; a precision innerbarrel; and a metal support to pull the cock handle more comfortable. With this itens on it, it is possible to ‘play’ with the gun in your tropical jungle fields.

After a while I become tired of the new sniper rifle face of my SVD, and decided to transform her in a Afghan style used sniper. However I does not want to made a traditional SVD style with wooded style grip and stock, I something like that:

1-CORRODING THE METAL:
The beginning of the process was to corroding the metal, in this instance, i admit that i was doing the thing with a little bit of pity.

However, after this first test, i agree to do something deeper. The formula was 1200 water sandpaper for plain surfaces and 360 sandpaper for the ribs, after that, scotch bride in all.

The part that we calling ‘guarda mato’ here in Brazil, after the rugged, has rusty very fast, and after a while a has to do somenthing diferent with him.

2-THE SCOPE
The scope has been trated to look used too, however the Idea of letting the metalic Color of the model has been aborted because will attract more attention in the jungle environment I used to play. However, his original tint was a rubber one, very hard to waste.

3- THE STOCK ''CORONHA''
The stock was the most delicate part, i went to a famous artisan who restore colonial mobiles and ask him to made a copy of the stock. Plus, the artisan told me he has do several cal.12 stocks for competition series, what make me a little bit confortable with the stock. I use the Cedro Wood, because is a good modeling one and has a good resistence.

Some images to show the fixation process in the body:

The beginning of the holes of the stock.

After that, the stock has gain form.

Here a comparison between the Wood and the ABS one:

The texture of the rugged wood gives a pretty good result and looks like an very used Afghan look.

4-THE ‘’GUARDA DEDO’’
The ‘guarda dedo’ was made of a different metal, and in the Brazilian tropical climate has rusty him very much in 2 weeks.

So, in this case, i has to sandpaper him again, to get rid of the rusty. After that a has ‘prime’ him again, paint in in matte black. After that I paint the ‘guarda dedo’ with Testors paint in chrome color, so that I can simulate the rugged metal.

CONCLUSION:
And than, some photos of the gun finished:

Hope you guys like, and one more time, i’m very sorry for the elementary english.

Regards

Hectic, the dragunov is shooting very good, this hopup chamber is awesome, and with the right nubb and .36 bbs shoots very well about 60 meters!
